The article features a case study of Chiara Ferragni, who is the world’s most popular fashion blogger and influencer of our times. Based on a case study from Harvard Business School, I explain how she and her team monetize her blog and Instagram profile. Moreover, I show how they manage their brand which now includes three branches: The Blonde Salad Magazine, Chiara Ferragni Collection and Chiara Ferragni Celebrity. The business model which they used in the past has helped Chiara Ferragni to achieve her main goal which was the transformation into a luxury brand and to design her own collection of clothes.

Theoretical background: The attributes of a luxury brand include both the physical characteristics of the product and the symbolic values that the brand provides to the consumers. Symbolism is interpreted as prestige, beauty, charisma, the creation of which requires larger and more time-consuming efforts than just producing a unique, expensive, high-quality product. An important aspect of a reliable, trustworthy image is the history of the brand and its creators. In the opinion of many authors, it is an important element of the brand’s value, not only shaping its luxurious image, but also providing psychological values. Although history is not always indicated directly among the attributes of luxury brands, it is the basis of other values ascribed to them. The luxurious nature of the brand is often defined in the literature through the prism of its symbolism, an important element of which is history, along with heritage and country of origin. A prestigious heritage is built and maintained in time and culture by brands that are embedded in historical notions of luxury. As a result of associations with the heritage, brand is perceived as the highest quality, unique and authentic one. Symbolism, heritage and the history of a luxury brand are related to emotional qualities of personal indulgence and self-expression. Purpose of the article: The aim of the article is to verify the importance of the history of the brand in the process of shaping the value of a luxury brand in the perception of consumers. Research methods: A total of 203 valid responses were collected from wealthy respondents declaring monthly income over PLN 20,000 gross. An analysis of the results of the study was carried out, as well as an analysis of the literature. Main findings: In the era of dynamic development of new technologies, unpredictable changes in consumer expectations towards companies and their offers, it turns out that history, heritage and attachment to tradition are highly valued by consumers of luxury goods. They shape a higher level of trust, both in the company’s brand and its products, and increase the consumers purchase willingness. Companies that can boast of long history should undoubtedly communicate it intensively and care about providing consumers not only with basic values related to the product itself, but also symbolic values, which are particularly important for consumer of luxury goods. History and the heritage of a luxury brand constitute one of the essential elements of the brand’s value and should also be treated as such by companies.

Obok teorii dotyczących pojęcia tożsamości marki, w nauce występuje wiele modeli tożsamości. Zmieniający się w ostatnich dziesięcioleciach świat oraz wzrost liczby badań wymuszają zmiany w funkcjonujących teoriach i ich dopasowanie do obecnych czasów (XXI wiek). Zmiany te są silnie zauważalne w gałęziach biznesu opartych na dyrektorze kreatywnym, czyli w dziedzinach oscylujących wokół sztuki i designu. W dobie funkcjonujących mediów społecznościowych oraz nowych technologii, rola dyrektora kreatywnego marki w budowaniu jej tożsamości wzrosła. Dyrektorzy kreatywni marek, publikując na profilach firmowych nowe zdjęcia, nie tylko dzielą się z konsumentami informacjami o marce, ale także swoim życiem prywatnym, zacierając granicę między tożsamością marki a ich własną. W artykule przedstawiono własną propozycję nowego modelu tożsamości marki oraz opisano przykłady marek, których tożsamości oparte są na tożsamości dyrektora kreatywnego.

In science, along the theories concerning brand identity, there occur many identity models. The changing in the last decades world and the increasing number of studies forced development of theories and its match to the present times (21st century). Those changes are strongly noticeable in businesses based on creators, so in the areas oscillating around art and design. In the era of popularity of social media and new technologies, the role of creative director in building brand identity increased rapidly. Creative directors along sharing information about the brand share moments from their private life, blurring the boundaries between brand identity and their own identity. In the article, the author proposes a new model of brand identity and provides examples of brands in which identity is strongly based on creative directors’ identity.

Наряду с теориями, касающимися понятия тождества марки, в науке выступает много моделей тождества. Изменяющийся в последних десятилетиях мир и рост количества исследований заставляют вводить изменения в функционирующие теории и приспособлять их к нынешним временам (XXI в.). Эти изменения весьма заметны в областях бизнеса, базирующихся на креативном директоре, т.е. в областях на стыке искусства и дизайна. В эпохе действующих социальных медиа и новых технологий повысилась роль креативного директора в формировании ее тождества. Креативные директора марок, публикуя на фирменных профилях новые фото, не только делятся с потребителями информацией о марке, но и своей личной жизнью, смывая грань между тождеством марки и их собственным. В статье представили авторское предложение новой модели тождества марки и описали примеры марок, тождества которых основаны на тождестве творческого директора.
