Niniejszy artykuł podejmuje zagadn ienie relacji między procesem standaryzacji i klasyfikacji męskiej anoreksji a ich praktycznymi implementacjami w internetowej platformie służby zdrowia. Szczegółowy nacisk został położony na znaczeniu standardowego kalkulatora pomiaru masy ciała, który jest uniwersalnie wykorzystywany do diagnozowania męskiej anoreksji. Wykorzystując ustalenia metodologiczne wypracowane na gruncie studiów nad nauką i technologią (STS) oraz propozycje teoretyczne Abriszewskiego (2013) i Nowaka (2016). Autor dowodzi jak problematyczne i niejednoznaczne jest założenie uniwersalnej stosowalności standardów. i jak modernistyczny postulat uniwersalizacji – w dzisiejszej rzeczywistości – traci moc i przywilej redukowania lęków i uspójniania świata. Analizując sposób standaryzowania i klasyfi kowania męskiej anoreksji przez Amerykańskie Towarzystwo Psychiatryczne (ASA) i Światową Organizację Zdrowia (WHO) oraz sposób, w jaki konkretne narzędzie pomiarowe (Body Mass Index) jest wykorzystane przez angielską służbę zdrowia (NHS) tekst proponuje przedefiniowanie postulatu uniwersalizacji.

The article tackles the problem of relation between standardization and classification process of male anorexia and its practical implementations in health care internet platform. The particular attention has been drawn to the significance of a specific, standard body mass calculator which is universally used to diagnose male anorexia. Applying methodological perspective of science and technology studies (STS) and theoretical claims that of Abriszewski (2013) and Nowak (2016 author argues how problematic and complex is the assumption of universal application of standards. Subsequently it is claimed ho modern proposition of universality – in contemporary world – loses its power and privilege of reducing risks and making a consistent world. Through an analysis of American Psychiatrists Association (DSM) and World Health Organization (ICD) ways of standardizing and classifying male anorexia and through unearthing how a particular measurement tool (Body Mass Index) is used by English internet health care platform the article postulates redefi ning the assumption of universality as a key attribute of standardizing processes.
