How to preach the Good News so that the people remember from our message not only the word “bad” or “evil”? The issue of the priests involved in the ministry of healing and exorcisms turns regularly up in the media as a bad penny. The dispute does not concerns the issue whether to inform about spiritual threats but how to do this effectively. Paul Evdokimov, an orthodox theologian, wrote in his book: “Christianity is a march of life across the cemeteries of the world”. The focus should be on the expression “march of life”. It makes no sense to be concerned solely about the “cemeteries of the world” and about the long list of spiritual threats with no mention about the most important reality: Christ’s victory over death.
In the modern world mass media are one of the most powerful instrument of influencing others. They can be used ether for good of a man or for his detriment; they can serve society or destroy it. Mass media are also an instrument of peace or war in the world. They are instrument of peace when they are an instrument of truth and promote justice among people, and serve the common good. They become an instrument of war when they lye, destroy social and religious values, promote social conflict. The main duty of the journalist is writing the truth. To fulfil this role he has to be free. Also for that reason he cannot be at direct service of the politicians, who usually are willing to use this instrument for their own good or the good of their parties; a journalist should not pursuit of the sensation, which usually serve for nothing positive.
Speaking of the media, I mean the whole of the press (newspapers and magazines), radio, television, and in recent years the Internet (or at least so-called Internet portals). This demonstrative definition of media also appeared in a number of studies on media and media ethics. This definition does not include, however, the complexity of the media, says nothing about the overt and covert mechanisms linking media with its social, economic and political surroundings, and finally does not indicate the purpose of the media, which seem to be essential both to differentiate what media really stands for and what does not, as well as to evaluate ethically the behaviour of the media. Therefore, in this article first I will describe the basic objectives of the media, then I will draw attention to their formal and informal structure and will discuss the basic requirements, which should be met by the media ethics.
It is particularly important for media to respect certain ethical norms related to politics due to the fact that they are for the vast majority of their own customers the only source of political information. In as much as media recipients are able to get to know many areas of their reality in a direct way so as to confront any media coverage with their own viewpoint, the politics as such does not allow for such an opportunity. The recipients cannot therefore act according to the principle (which admittedly belongs more to the field of rationality than morality) requiring them to favour only direct contact with their reality when it comes to particularly significant matters1, with political decisions belonging to such a scope of issues. It also appears that the recipients are obliged to formulate clear expectations towards media, so that they provide, if possible, a comprehensive and impartial set of information and opinions on matters of the politics. This approach can be effective due to the functioning of certain media mechanisms requiring to adapt the content to the tastes and expectations of the widest possible audiences.

W artykule podjęto problem roli mediów we współczesnych konfliktach zbrojnych.
The Internet is the first medium in which controlling the content has become difficult or even impossible. One of its reasons is the fact that the Internet users – who so far were only passive recipients of media messages – have gained the possibility to create and distribute their own messages. Thus, they have become active participants of the participatory culture, in which it is difficult to distinguish between professional and amateur content. The boundaries between private and public domains have become blurred. The distribution of forces shaping public opinion has changed, because the content comes from large media corporations and nonprofessional creators alike. The Internet message is characterized by instantaneous distribution, the ease of editing and modifying its content, and vagueness of authorship. These features make the Internet particularly susceptible to disinformation purposefully aimed at manipulating its users. The fact that every activity undertaken by the Internet users is recorded and analysed is also conducive to manipulation attempts, as the data obtained this way are used to shape their opinions and influence their decisions. The aim of the article is to undertake a discourse on information and disinformation on the Internet in the context of the development of new digital communication tools. The article provides the examples of information manipulation, which could happen only in such an interactive and multimedia medium as the Internet.

The article confirms the thesis that culture is understood in various ways. There are people who do not know culture and those who want to know more about it. Such a desire stems from the need to solve the problem that arises from different understandings of culture and from the fact that what some people call culture, others call anti-culture. The fact that the media are used in the search for the true image of culture is presented in the article through an analysis of the messages presented in the media. If we assume that the role of the media is to help people to discover the truth by discussing issues that are relevant to people’s lives, we can say that they truly undertake such a task when it comes to culture. The media emphasize the fact that values such as truth, goodness, and beauty are present in culture. All of these values come from God and lead to him. They make mankind need and search for culture continuously. Thanks to them, we can experience holistic development and understand more deeply what the essence of true humanity is. Without these divine values, human life-marked by false anthropocentrism-will always be filled with activities that can be described as “anti-culture.” On the basis of selected texts, the article demonstrates the dependence between recognizing true culture and accepting responsibility for it. This responsibility is expressed in a constant effort to broaden one’s horizons of thought, to engage in various areas of life, and to create-through true universal fraternity-various communities. This way, the proper development of not only culture, but also of humanity can take place. It is also the path which leads to an effective defense against secular humanism, which is so hostile to religion.
Artykuł omawia treść dokumentu końcowego V Ogólnej Konferencji Episkopatów Ameryki Łacińskiej i Karaibów zwanego „Dokumentem z Aparecidy”. Autor, podkreślając różne wskazania pastoralne, zwraca szczególną uwagę na implikacje medioznawcze dokumentu, ukazując je w kontekście nowej ewangelizacji.

The article touches on the content of the final document of the 5th General Conference of the Bishops of Latin America and Caribbean known as „Document from Aparecida”. Author emphasizing various pastoral indications underlines especially the media cognitive implications of the above document presenting them in the context of the new evangelization.
The text presents the project of multimedial, contemporary verbal environment research which uses a category of speech genres (Bakhtin). Focusing on the secondary genres (genres of verbal creativity) it justifies the argument that „The world is not dead. It’s merely changing it’s skin” (Dick Higgins), and therefore in the living verbal environment we deal with changing, heterogeneous media of verbal expression that determine, in part, ways of being and describing genres. This paper presents performance, text and hypertext as a basic means of existence of the verbal forms in contemporary culture; means which demand an adequate category of description and research tools in order to avoid textualization of multimedial genres and not to treat them like a literature.

The political situation in North Korea after the seizure of power by Kim Jong Un has become a cause of many analyzes. It also relate to the sustainability of his rule. A threat to power of authorities would be particularly the information from the data carriers, smuggled across the Chinese-North Korean border. By denying the regime’s propaganda, it would weakens its credibility and the borderland would become a place of beginnings of changes. Therefore this text is an analysis aimed to answer the question whether, is it possible in the current socio-political context. There were characterized such factors as the historical experience of the country, the role of propaganda, the degree of control and the mentality of the DPRK’s citizens.
In a society permeated by mass culture, the process of taking control by the representatives of the symbolic elite - those who are considered to be authorities of the beliefs legitimacy, is connected with concept of redefinition of the „factual participation” of the elites in social communication. One can specify several conditions that increase the chance that the symbolic elite will exercise discursive leadership on any subject given the following: 1) a break with the bourgeois tradition of boycotting the „gutter press” by „enligh-tened citizens”; 2) the formulation of simple content enriched by easily understandable elements of professional knowledge; 3) speaking out on issues, currently absorbing the public opinion; 4) the initiation of the rhetoric of anxiety (including the rhetoric of fear, that adversaries are inciting the unwarranted anxiety); 5) the practice of secret tabloid politics - placing statements in the arena of social networks, checking the responses of Internet users and modifying one's statements in order to reduce the number of critical comments; 6) compliance with the political principle of „limited conformism” against the rhetoric of mass culture, since openly rude criticism of the opponents, evokes social stigma.

“Where is the knowledge we have lost in information?” asks archbishop Józef Michalik, quoting Eliot. And this is an important question. Man’s profundity can only be fulfilled by God. “One needs to work in order to regain the profundity – the profundity which is characteristic of a human being. The profundity which calls on his mind and heart [...]. It is the profundity of truth and freedom, justice and charity. The profundity of peace.” (John Paul II).
