In recent years there has been concern connected with the practice of collecting classic forensic traces in crime scenes. apart from this there are some problems concerning their accessibility. The main factor which affects the possibility of disclosing evidence negatively is the decreasing quality of forensic activities. Moreover, poorly trained police officers do not usually know how to use tactically the information content of forensic evidence. During the preparatory proceedings problems connected with small value of detection of classic evidence appear. also the significance of aFis and genom databases decreases and obtaining reference material is becoming difficult. in such situations law enforcement authorities do not have to be helpless because, while committing a crime, memory traces of this events are formed in the mind of a perpetrator. they can be revealed objectively by polygraph examination aimed at excluding and confirming a person’s connection with the event. in many cases, however, there is no alternative for polygraph, which was presented in this article.

The experience of reminiscences/dreams lies at the roots of the theory of individual and social memory. The author compares childhood remembrance-pictures of the two important events of 28 June 1956 in Poznań with documental photographs collected in the Museum of Poznań Uprising 1956. These traces-documents are apparently different in comparison with tablets fitted on the pavement leading to the Museum. Memory is plural, and there are three main levels of recognition, memory and forgetting discussed by the author.

Tekst ten przedstawia przestrzeń miejską z perspektywy kilku szlaków pamięci istniejących w Warszawie i Krakowie.

This paper presents the urban space from the perspective of “memory traces” functioning in Warsaw and Krakow. The authors analyzed the nature of these traces and their elements – monuments and other places of historical meaning, and the roles they play in the cities and the social memory of their inhabitants – both in their material and symbolic meanings. The research concentrated on the themes of the “memory traces”, their elements and influence on the cities’ spaces.

This article is an attempt to interpret the final scene of The Leopard by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa (in which Concetta buries the remains of a decomposing stuffed dog) and to present an analysis of the motif of hope chests. Tracing Freudian anachronisms in the novel’s narration, the author proves that Concetta’s never-opened hope chests are a sign of her “mummified” memories of erotic unfulfillment. The decayed dowry kept in the chests is an image of “memory traces” (Freud) which harm the unmarried woman, turning her life into a “hell of memories.”

Artykuł stawia pytanie o znaczenie finałowej sceny Geparda Giuseppe Tomasiego di Lampedusy (grzebania przez Concettę szczątków psiej kukły) i w całości przedstawia analizę motywu skrzyń posagowych.
