The aim of this paper is to introduce the results of a pilot study of the metalinguistic awareness of nine and ten-year old children in terms of the comprehension and use of the terms denoting parts of speech. The study was conducted among 73 children. The interpretation of study results includes the connection between defining and the development of the skill of defining. Moreover, the authors take into consideration the fact that the process of becoming independent of perceptive and semantic aspects and the development of the awareness of the linguistic formin children are extended in time. The study shows that children are able to combine a metalinguistic term with its definition to a larger extent if the definition comprises the semantic features of parts of speech. On the other hand, they display smaller awareness of the grammatical features of particular parts of speech. Their receptive and perceptive competence is relatively low, which indicates that many children do not understand the terms discussed in the scope provided in the core curriculum.

The paper shows the results of an internet survey on metalinguistic awareness about the dialect conducted among the inhabitants of Konin region (including towns and villages). It is an interesting area for sociological reasons (intensive development of the city in the 1960s and 1970s, rapid industrialization of the region and numerous migrations) and language (dialectal borderland and the influence of the language brought by former migrants). The attitudes of the respondents towards dialect were examined, how they evaluates this type of language and whether they use it. The analysis of 147 questionnaires makes it possible to take into account such criteria as age, sex, education and place of residence. An additional aim of the article is to formulate conclusions as to the use of an online survey in the study of language awareness about dialect.

W artykule analizowano wyniki ankiety internetowej dotyczącej świadomości językowej na temat gwary przeprowadzonej wśród mieszkańców Konina i okolic. Jest to teren ciekawy ze względów socjologicznych (intensywny rozwój miasta w latach  60. i 70. XX wieku, szybkie uprzemysłowienie regionu i liczne migracje) oraz językowych (pogranicze dialektalne oraz wpływ języka przyniesionego przez dawnych migrantów). Badano postawy, jakie wskazana grupa zajmuje wobec gwary, jak ocenia tę odmianę języka i czy się nie posługuje. Analiza 147 ankiet daje możliwość uwzględnienie takich kryteriów jak wiek, płeć, wykształcenie, miejsce zamieszkania. Dodatkowym celem tekstu jest sformułowanie wniosków, co do wykorzystania ankiety internetowej jako narzędzia w badaniu świadomości językowej na temat gwary.

The article concerns the issue of linguistic awareness among students who attend the program for the prospective teachers of Polish as a foreign language at the Faculty of Philology at the University of Lodz. In the text, we present and comment on the results of a survey study among 52 students. The survey consisted of questions on basic issues of functional grammar of the Polish language in the area of declension, which are presented to learners of Polish as a foreign language. The analysis led to the proposal to introduce the notion of didactic metalinguistic awareness, related to the peculiar character of foreign language teaching, which would complement the metalinguistic awareness.

Artykuł porusza zagadnienie świadomości lingwistycznej studentów – słuchaczy specjalizacji glottodydaktycznej na Wydziale Filologicznym Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego. W tekście zostały przedstawione i omówione wyniki analizy badania ankietowego przeprowadzonego w grupie 52 studentów. W kwestionariuszu umieszczono pytania dotyczące podstawowych problemów z gramatyki funkcjonalnej języka polskiego z zakresu fleksji imiennej, które omawiane są przez nauczyciela języka polskiego jako obcego podczas zajęć z cudzoziemcami. Analiza materiału badawczego zaowocowała propozycją wprowadzenia pojęcia glottodadaktycznej świadomości lingwistycznej, związanej ze specyfiką pracy nauczyciela języka obcego, będącej dopełnieniem świadomości lingwistycznej.
