The article underscores the significance of the value of a literary text, understood in its cultural and philosophical instantiations. Throughout, a review of the presence of classic literature in textbooks and materials used to teach Polish as a foreign language shows the selective and frequent over reliance on such texts in language teaching. The author of the article suggests that such texts should play a role of serving as examples, while being useful outlets for possible multifaceted interpretations during foreign language classes.
