The aim of the paper was to show some basic information about partial equilibrium models and their use for the agricultural sector modeling. As an example the AGMEMOD model was chosen and described. The pig and the pig meat markets modeling were described with a market projection up to 2020 in scenarios assuming different Euro/PLN exchange rates.

Celem pracy było przedstawienie założeń leżących u podstaw budowy modeli równowagi cząstkowej i możliwości ich zastosowań w rolnictwie na przykładzie modelu AGMEMOD2. Szczegółowo opisano proces modelowania rynku trzody chlewnej i mięsa wieprzowego, przedstawiając jednocześnie wstępne wyniki projekcji do roku 2020 w zależności od kształtowania się kursu euro.

W artykule przedstawiono zmiany w produkcji, konsumpcji i handlu zagranicznym wieprzowiną w Polsce w latach 1990-2011. Polska od 2008 r. jest importerem netto wieprzowiny i ujemne saldo obrotów handlowych się powiększa.

An analysis, based on empirical data for the period of 1990-2011, presents changes in production, consumption and foreign trade in pig meat and its products. Since 2008 Poland has been a net importer of pig meat and its products.

Wspólna Polityka Rolna w niewielkim stopniu odziaływuje na rynek wieprzowiny oraz wołowiny w Polsce, pomimo tego, że dysponuje ona bogatym wachlarzem instrumentów. Zniesienie barier celnych po akcesji Polski do UE w maju 2004 roku zwiększyło wymianę handlową wieprzowiną oraz wołowiną głównie z krajami Wspólnoty, co wynikało przede wszystkim z naszych przewag cenowych, tak po stronie producentów, jak i przetwórców. Zyskali przede wszystkim producenci żywca wołowego, gdyż jego ceny po 2004 roku zaczęły rosnąć, tym samym zahamowany został regres w chowie bydła rzeźnego w Polsce. Postępują procesy koncentracji produkcji trzody chlewnej oraz bydła. W szybkim tempie duża grupa zakładów przetwórstwa mięsnego osiągnęła standardy produkcyjne zgodne z unijnymi.

The Common Agricultural Policy has a minor impact on pork and beef market in Poland, though it has at its disposal a wide range of instruments. The abolition of customs barriers after the Polish accession to the EU in May 2004 increased the trade in pork and beef mainly with the European Community countries. This results, above all, from our price advantage, both on the side of producers, as well as on the side of processing plants. The producers of beef cattle acquired the greatest profits because after 2004 the price of beef started to grow, and thereby the regress in production of slaughter cattle in Poland was stopped. The process of concentrating the production of pigs and cattle is in progress. A large number of meat processing plants quickly achieved the production standards required in the EU.
