Central European countries are not military powers, in this group only Poland has significant military potential. However, in the face of clearly indicated threats (military, economic, cultural), legitimate is expectation for coperation between countries of Central Europe. This cooperation not only strengthens the protection of their interests – but may also strengthen the structures of NATO and EU, to which these countries belong. For security of Central European countries very important is also support from the USA.
The European Union wants to play an important role in the world in the face of changes underway on the international scene. The aim of the article is to try to define the EU’s position on the international stage compared to the countries of greatest global importance. The research problem is therefore the assessment of the EU’s importance and position as a global partner in relation to the current world powers in the context of territorial, socio-economic and military criteria. The authors of the article put forward the thesis that the current power structure in the world and the challenges it involves position the European Union as a major global partner. The main method used in the article is analysis of the literature of the subject, supplemented by review of the available state of knowledge and research. The use of these methods allowed to distinguish a set of criteria necessary for the assessment of the EU’s global position. In addition, the authors use comparative analysis, collating the collected data, which made it possible to present the EU against the background of countries with a well-established global position in each of these criteria. According to the authors, it can be concluded that, taking into account socio-economic criteria, the EU’s position in the world is very strong in these areas and supplies grounds for the perception of the EU as a global partner. However, other criteria, such as the functioning of the overarching power, the ability to pursue a coherent foreign policy and the capacity to defend borders remain areas that require a much greater integration commitment in order for the EU to be called a real global partner.
The purpose of the article is to present and analyse the role of transfer of military technology, equipment and armaments in mutual military relations between the PRC and Ukraine, as well as its impact on modernization of the PLA and expansion of China’s military potential.
National and international security remains a fascinating area of scientific research. Studies of phenomena and processes in military security suggest that we are witnessing great and intense changes. In their analyses of the modern security environment, both NATO and the EU wish to accommodate the existing conditions. Poland also has been affected by that process. The security policy should be based on the main assumption that Poland is a sovereign security entity, able to define its national interests and strategic objectives autonomously. However, the foundations of our security are assured by membership in the EU and NATO, good relations in the region, a strategic alliance with the USA, and an internal defense mechanism. The needs of the state and the society for national security arise from a dynamic rate of changes in challenges and hazards. The Author intends to combine theory with practice that is implemented in favor of the military security of Poland. First of all, the essence of military security is presented from theoretical and utilitarian viewpoints. The subsequent parts of the paper present research results related to the identification of contemporary challenges and hazards to the military security of Poland. This approach provided an opportunity to outline assumptions of policy and strategy underlying military security in current international security conditions.
W artykule przedstawiona została aktualna sytuacja oraz rola Obwodu Kaliningradzkiego w systemie bezpieczeństwa regionalnego. Autor analizuje potencjał militarny rozmieszczony w Obwodzie Kaliningradzkim, na tle potencjału całości sił zbrojnych Federacji Rosyjskiej. Uwzględniając wydarzenia historii najnowszej, autor przedstawia uwarunkowania wpływające na aktualny stan Sił Zbrojnych Federacji Rosyjskiej oraz stara się scharakteryzować działania tego państwa podejmowane w zakresie kształtowania sytuacji geopolitycznej w regionie.

The Russian military potency in the Kaliningrad Oblast and it's possibilities of influence on the geopolitical situation in the region. The actual role of the Kaliningrad District in the regional security system has been presented in the article. On the background of the Russian Federation Military Forces strength the author analyses the military potency located in the Kaliningrad District. Considering the newest history the author presents the determinants which influence on the actual state of the Russian Armed Forces and tries to characterize the activities of this state undertaken to shape the geopolitical situation in the region.
The state security policy is determined by internal and external, objective and subjective conditions. Its conduct is subordinated to the pursuit of specific goals and protection of the state's interests with the use of appropriately selected means at its disposal. The aim of the article is to answer the question whether the economic and military potential of the French Fifth Republic are the factors that determine the security policy of this state. While writing the article, the method of analyzing legal acts and the systemic method were used. The research conducted for this article shows that both the economic potential and the military factor significantly affect the directions of France's security policy. Nevertheless, the military factor, which until recently ranked first among all factors determining the choice of security policy, has now lost its importance in favor of regional cooperation in the field of security.

Polityka bezpieczeństwa państwa jest zdeterminowana uwarunkowaniami wewnętrznymi i zewnętrznymi, obiektywnymi oraz subiektywnymi. Jej prowadzenie jest podporządkowane dążeniom do osiągnięcia konkretnych celów i ochronie własnych interesów państwa przy użyciu odpowiednio dobranych środków będących w jego dyspozycji. Celem artykułu jest udzielenie odpowiedzi na pytanie czy potencjał gospodarczy oraz militarny V Republiki Francuskiej rzeczywiście są czynnikami warunkującymi politykę bezpieczeństwa tego państwa. W celu opracowania artykułu wykorzystano metodę analizy aktów prawnych oraz metodę systemową. Z badań przeprowadzonych na potrzeby niniejszej pracy wynika, że zarówno potencjał gospodarczy, jak i potencjał militarny wpływają w znaczący sposób na kierunki prowadzenia polityki bezpieczeństwa Francji. Niemniej jednak czynnik wojskowy, który do niedawna zajmował pierwsze miejsce, obecnie stracił na znaczeniu na rzecz współpracy regionalnej w zakresie bezpieczeństwa.
