Artykuł jest autorskim podsumowaniem kilkusemestralnych seminaryjnych dyskusji Koła Krakowskiego. Zdaniem autora koncept podmiotowości pozwala wyjaśnić, że będąc przeciwnymi jednej regule, nie musimy się opowiadać za światem bez reguł, lecz za zbiorem reguł, które są stopniowo reinterpretowane i modyfikowane. Można to ująć schematycznie za pomocą następującej formuły: podmiotowość = chcieć (wiedzieć po co?) + móc (mieć możliwość działania i odpowiednie instrumenty) + nie musieć (wywierać wpływ na reguły i sposób ich modyfikowania).

This article contains a summary of the discussions conducted by the Cracow Circle during several semesters. The author comes to the conclusion that the concept of subjectivity can explain why, even if we are against a certain rule, we do not have to settle for a world without rules, but favour a set of rules which is gradually reinterpreted and modified. It can be represented schematically by the following formula: subjectivity = to want (to know why) + to be able to (act and have appropriate tools) + not to have to (influence rules and the way they are modified).

Przedmiotem artykułu są rodzaje wiedzy społecznej. Poznawanie bytów społecznych wymaga – obok myślenia analitycznego i systemowego – myślenia modularnego, które jest przede wszystkim nową interpretacją rzeczywistości społecznej. Uznanie występowania kilku rodzajów wiedzy społecznej jest jedną z fundamentalnych przesłanek odrzucenia koncepcji determinizmu w funkcjonowaniu świata społecznego. Jeżeli to uczynimy na rzecz probabilizmu, kontyngentności, czyli niekoniecznej konieczności, to dopuścimy z zasady możliwość wystąpienia szeregu sytuacji (stanów), nie dowolnych, a wielu, z których zaistnienie jednego z możliwych otwiera przestrzeń dla nowej puli możliwości.

The paper presents the theoretical approach to the research of social life based on transcendental realism and methodological individualism (accepting the existence of structured social entities), recognizing the high complexity of social life and its evolutionary character. This positio n is formulated in opposition to constructivism and holism. The mode of constructing social theories is inspired by a reinterpretation of Alfred Schütz’s approach that focuses on the features of Schütz’s concept which bring him closer to the rational choice theory than to interpretative postmodernism, even though he is often considered as the proponent of the latter. The ideas presented in the paper are close to those developed in the scope of analytical sociology, especially to its emphasis on causal research of social mechanisms and micro-macro relationships.

Autor prowadzi dialog z innymi autorami artykułów zamieszczonych w tym tomie i rozwija swoje wyjściowe argumenty. Zarazem wskazuje, w jakim kierunku - jego zdaniem - powinny zmierzać seminaria Koła Krakowskiego w kolejnym okresie.

The paper recapitulates the discussion pursued at the Krakow Circle seminars, prompted by the first paper in this volume. The author engages in a dialogue with the authors of other papers published herein and develops his initial argumentation. At the same time, he indicates his preferred direction of subsequent debates within the Krakow Circle.
