The article present views of abbé Pluche whose books were very popular in 18th century France. In his Spectacle of nature and The history of the heavens he wanted to stir in his readers an interest in the world around them. Nature is a book written by God, the creator of this nature, and by reading it properly, people can see the providential care of God. To combat atomism and randomness, Pluche introduced in his physics many elementary substances as foundational elements, of which particularly important was light. Pluche devoted considerable attention to the problem of the origin of religion and religious rites. For Pluche, monotheism was the original religious faith and idolatry was a later religious development which was basically a perversion of monotheism.

Artykuł przedstawia refleksję religijno-teologiczną, dotyczącą życia i działalności panującego w latach 1350-1334 przed Chr. faraona XVIII dynastii Egiptu Echnatona (Amenhotepa IV).

The article presents a religious and theological reflection with regard to the life and activity of the Pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty of Egypt, Akhenaten (Amenhotep IV), prevailing in the years 1350-1334 before Christ. Although the available documents are not very numerous, and the person of the ruler is an extremely controversial figure, his activity is worth considering. After a short presentation of the monarch’s biography, the author showed the doctrine of Atonism – a monotheistic religion that the pharaoh proclaimed and imposed on his subjects. Then he considered what reasons could lead to the adoption of this religion by the ruler. He drew attention to the similarities between Atonism and Jahvism (Mosaism-Judaism). One of the possible causes of the religious revolution of Akhenaten was the attempt of an intellectual (logical) look at the issue of the religion of ancient Egyptians. The author showed the figure of Akhenaten and his wife Nefertiti as an example of a rational approach to religion.

The worship of saints was contrary to the polytheistic worships already in existence for the Church Fathers (cf. Passio by St. Polycarpi, and especially for St. Augustine). The content of the article is to present the biblical inveteracy of five aspects of the worship of saints in Catholicism today: 1. By worshiping the saints, we are giving thanks to God for His faithful bestowing of His own Church in previous generations. 2. Our thanksgiving is penetrated by an entreaty, that God would also give us the same gift as he once bestowed upon our fathers and mothers in the faith. 3. In the worship of saints we express our faith that saints pray for us, at the same time we ask them to intercede for us. 4. The expression of the worship of saints is also the worship of their relics, 5. and their imitation. In short: By imitating the saints, we learn how we can and should imitate Christ.

The article deals with the relationship between the dialogue of cultures and the dialogue of religions. The analysis of the concept of religion and culture shows that their contents are closely related to each other. There is no religion without culture nor culture without religion. Therefore, demand emerging sometimes to replace interreligious dialogue with intercultural dialogue is unfounded. A dialogue of cultures without a dialogue of religions is impossible. In order for a dialogue to take place, appropriate conditions must be met. One of them is the pursuit of truth. However, the truth is inclusive, not exclusive. Therefore, in religion there is no room for violence in the name of truth. For Christians, truth has a personal character. It is Jesus Christ, the “polyphonic” Saviour (Clement of Alexandria).
Prayer is one of the most essential expression of the cult existing in every religion. On account of differences taking place in individual religions, and also historical, geografical and cultural conditionings, the prayer donned different forms and means of expression. In this article there have been featured the analogies between prayer in Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The Israel’s prayer resulted from the fact of affiliation with jewish nation with which the God transacted the covenant. Perpetuating the conditions of this covenant constituted the guarantee for the believing human being that his prayer will be listened. The Christian prayer’s property is it’s giving direction to a person and Christ’s saving work; His mediation constitutes the guarantee of effectiveness therefore. Prayer in Islam constitutes one of the five pillars, meaning elementary obligations, which abiding is the condition of the salvation. In spite of the differences taking place in above-mentioned religions their common feature is taking a dialogue between man and the God and also the belief that requests directed to Him will be listened.

W niniejszym artykule zostały ukazane analogie pomiędzy modlitwą w judaizmie, chrześcijaństwie i islamie. Modlitwa Izraela wynikała z faktu przynależności do narodu żydowskiego, z którym Bóg zawarł przymierze.
Proces stanowi o dynamice narracyjnej Deutero-Izjasza.

The subject of our analysis is an extract from the Book of Isaiah, 43:8-13, which represents a significant moment in a bilateral controversy (rîb) ordered by Yahveh against foreign nations and the gods they worship. The juridical controversy decides about powerful and dynamic narration in Deutero-Isaiah. There is an unexpected twist of action as the legal proceeding unfolds: Israel, once God’s witness, now becomes a nation accused of rejecting its primary vocation of being a witness. Our quest for the reasons behind Israel's failed testimony to God hinges on decoding the idealized content of that testimony. God does not renounce His revelation to the world but makes Yahveh’s Servant his witness. The Servant will not only lead the world to the truth about God but also justify Israel, as well as other nations, by forming a covenant with the people.
Niniejszy artykuł jest próbą analizy fenomenu religii w myśli Martina Bubera (+1965). Autor wychodzi od zasadniczego rozróżnienia obecnego u żydowskiego filozofa na religię (oparta na tradycji, kulcie i instytucji statyczna relacja do Boga) i religijność (żywe i kreatywne odniesienie do Boga poprzez świat). Następnie zostały zaprezentowane główne idee Bubera: uznanie religii za uwarunkowany historycznie wytwór człowieka; negacja roszczeń przedstawicieli konkretnych religii do ekskluzywizmu; deprecjacja teologii jako formy obiektywizacji żywego objawienia; negacja poznawczego aspektu religii; preferowanie wiary opartej na osobowym zaufaniu zamiast wiary bazującej na poznaniu prawdy o boskiej rzeczywistości; odrzucenie prawa religijnego; pojęcie monoteizmu i politeizmu jako życiowego punktu odniesienia się człowieka. Buber został zaprezentowany jako zwolennik akonfesyjnej religijności.

The paper is an attempt to analyze the phenomenon of religion in the thought of Martin Buber (+1965). The author comes from a fundamental distinction for Buber between religion (based on tradition, worship and institutions static relationship to God) and religiosity (living and creative reference to God in the world). Then are presented the main ideas of Buber: recognition of religion as a product of historically conditioned human activity, denial of claims of the representatives of the specific religion to exclusivism, depreciation of theology as a form of objectification of the living revelation, denial of the cognitive aspect of religion, preference of faith based on trust in God, rejection of religious law, the concept of monotheism and polytheism as a reference point in life. Buber is presented as a supporter of the non-confessional religion as the living relationship to the world and his divine foundation.
