This paper discusses a problem of functioning of grammatical variants of inflection forms and substantive word-formations on the surface of lexical semantics in the Slavonic languages. Author comes to conclusion that the role of morphonological factor in vocabulary enrichment consists in the liquidation of the segmental alternations on the morpheme borders in the process of diachronic development of grammatical variation of substantive forms. Depending on the presence or absence of alternations, the grammatical meaning of concrete variants of inflectional forms or substantive wordformations can be lexicalizated and build the different meanings and/or stylistic connotations in the lexical subsystem of language.

Morphotactic and morphophonological syntagmatics of the Romanian verbal nounsThis paper tries to formulate a working hypothesis concerning the general morphological structure of the Romanian verbal nouns. Its first part consists in the analysis of the verbal nouns morphophonology. Some basic types of the syntagmatic structure are presented here for each morphological part of these words (root, prefixes, suffixes, inflections, interfixes). The second part is a morphotactic analysis of the forty verbal nouns. There are the nine general types of the syntagmatic structure formulated for the whole set of these Romanian lexemes.

In Japanese, a series of morphophonological changes that reorganizes the verbal inflectional paradigms is currently underway. The changes in potential forms involve two innovative processes: ar-Deletion and re-Insertion. This paper analyzes these morphophonological changes in the Japanese potential forms, and models the mechanism that governs the sequential changes, using the Corpus of Spontaneous Japanese. By positing a chronological order between the changes, I argue that the initial change in consonant-final verbs is motivated by semantic disambiguation, and the subsequent change in vowel-final verbs is triggered by analogical leveling for the optimization of the conjugation paradigm. This analogical leveling reorganizes the paradigm in order to counter the increased discrepancy between potential forms of consonant-final verbs and vowel-final verbs caused by the previous change. I propose that positing this two-step process is crucial to understanding the diachronic changes at issue.

Ponadto uzasadniona została zdolność niektórych interfiksów, oprócz wykonywania swojej podstawowej funkcji w procesie tworzenia wyrazów, do nadania lepszej rozpoznawalności derywatów jako przed-stawicieli określonych grup semantycznych wyrazów.

The article provides a close to exhaustive set of morphophonological processes that accompany noun formation derived from other nouns with the suffix -ец in the Belarusian language. Practically all possible alternations of phonemes are indicated; the most often cutting off endings of underlying stems are noted. The list of interfixes is given as a series of fragments in the structure of a derived word. Interfixes positioned between the underlying stem and the suffixal morpheme contribute to their optimal compatibility. A few cases of superposition of morphs are shown. As a result of word formation the analysis of some nouns with the suffix -ец more systemically justified (or simply correct) versions of their derivational structure are proposed than those presented in word formation dictionaries. Besides, the article proves the ability of some interfixes to promote better recognition of derivatives as representatives of certain semantic classes of words in addition to their main function in the word formation process.
