In the paper, the author describes and analyses the old Mazovian toponyms motivated by Slavic compound names. The work, by definition, positions itself within the historical and etymological mainstream of studies of place names. Based on the analyzed material, it can be argued that more than one hundred Mazovian local names (111) remain in genetic association with compound names. Such place names were created at different times, as evidenced by the name structure itself. The oldest are probably the formations of -j-, which are also the most represented in the toponymy of the described area.
