This article presents the issue of the development of higher education as a factor of regional development. On the background of synthetic considerations concerning the nature and mechanisms of regional development, the roles of the university resulting from the creation of soft factors of regional development are discussed. Particular attention was paid to the development of the infrastructure the university as a special way of enriching concrete space.

Niniejszy artykuł podejmuje problematykę rozwoju szkół wyższych jako czynnika rozwoju regionalnego. Na tle syntetycznych rozważań dotyczących istoty i mechanizmów rozwoju regionalnego omówiono role uczelni polegające na kreowaniu miękkich czynników rozwoju regionalnego. Ponadto, wskazując na mnogość ról, jakie pełnią szkoły wyższe, szczególną uwagę zwrócono na rozwój infrastrukturalny uczelni jako obszar włączania się szkół wyższych w procesy wzbogacania danej przestrzeni.
