The article is devoted to the image of war in Smrt – a collection of short stories written by Eduard Limonov. Eduard Limonov is a controversial Russian writer and politician known for his extremist worldview, scandalous literary works and involvement in the national-bolshevik movement. The action of most of the stories is set against the backdrop of the Yugoslav Wars. Limonov describes the dark sides of the war: death, suffering of civilians and atrocities, but at the same time claims that war creates an excellent opportunity to experience a fascinating adventure and to become a true hero. In his opinion, the war is completely consistent with the most basic human instincts, therefore, it is not surprising that many soldiers participate in war with enthusiasm and prefer it to a boring, stabilized life.

The text deals with the issues of nationalism in contemporary Russia, with particular emphasis on the ideology of Eurasianism and national-bolshevism. The text also presents the figure of Alexander Dugin - a philosopher, lecturer at the Lomonosov Moscow State University, author of books and publications on, among others, the doctrine of Eurasianism, Russian geopolitics or the Noomahia project (War of the Mind). In numerous lectures and publications, Dugin tries to justify the necessity for mankind to depart reject the Western model of politics and lifestyle. Getting to know the views of this Russian philosopher allowed me to define the basic problems in philosophical and geopolitical terms. It comes down to the conclusion that it is necessary to counter the harmful effects of globalization and the ubiquitous Americanization of life, which is the main aim of this article. Alexander Dugin’s Eurasian thought has not enjoyed much interest in Polish literature so far, therefore, based on the reading and interpretation of the Russian texts of the mentioned author, I present an outline of his views. The starting point for these considerations is the statement that the only country that actively resists the hegemony of the United States is the Russian Federation, which is a civilization alternative to a spiritually impoverished Europe. According to Alexander Dugin, Eurasian Russia should act as the liberator of Europe, but this time from the American economic and cultural hegemony. Eduard Limonov, the charismatic leader of the Other Russia party, shared a similar opinion with Dugin because of his membership in the National Bolshevik Party. The article contains an analysis of their assumptions, common elements and divergences in worldview. There is no doubt, however, that Alexander Dugin’s Eurasian Party, with all its idealistic assumptions, is treated as an advisory body to President Vladimir Putin and not as a real political force in Russia.

Tekst dotyczy zagadnienia nacjonalizmu we współczesnej Rosji, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem ideologii eurazjatyzmu i narodowego bolszewizmu. Przybliża również postać Aleksandra Dugina – filozofa, wykładowcy Moskiewskiego Uniwersytetu Państwowego im. Łomonosowa, autora książek i publikacji poświęconych m.in. doktrynie eurazjatyzmu, rosyjskiej geopolityce czy też projektowi Noomachia (Wojna umysłów). Dugin w licznych wykładach i publikacjach próbuje uzasadnić konieczność odejścia ludzkości od zachodniego modelu polityki i stylu życia. Zapoznanie się z poglądami tego rosyjskiego filozofa pozwoliło mi określić w aspekcie filozoficznym oraz geopolitycznym podstawową problematykę. Sprowadza się ona do wniosku, iż należy przeciwstawić się szkodliwym działaniom globalizacji i wszechobecnej amerykanizacji życia, co jest zasadniczym celem tego artykułu. Myśli eurazjatyckiej Aleksandra Dugina nie poświęcono jak dotąd w polskim piśmiennictwie wiele uwagi, dlatego też w oparciu o lekturę oraz interpretację rosyjskich tekstów wspomnianego autora, przytaczam zarys jego poglądów. Punktem wyjścia dla podjętych rozważań jest stwierdzenie, że jedynym państwem, które daje czynny opór hegemonii USA jest Federacja Rosyjska, która stanowi alternatywę jako cywilizacja dla zubożałej duchowo Europy. Jak wynika ze słów Aleksandra Dugina, rolą eurazjatyckiej Rosji powinno być uwolnienie Europy spod obecnego panowania amerykańskiej gospodarczej i kulturowej hegemonii. Podobnego zdania był charyzmatyczny lider partii Innej Rosji Eduard Limonow, którego łączyła z Duginem przynależność do Partii Narodowo-Bolszewickiej. Artykuł obejmuje analizę ich założeń, elementy wspólne oraz rozbieżności w światopoglądzie. Nie ulega jednak wątpliwości, że Partia Eurazja Aleksandra Dugina, przy wszystkich swoich idealistycznych założeniach, jest traktowana jako organ doradczy prezydenta Władimira Putina, a nie jako realna siła polityczna w Rosji.
