This paper draws attention to the range of legal, political and moral problems that the country’s representation in exile had to face in connection with the search for human resources when building up military units. Though the issue of recruiting prisoners-of-war from enemy armed forces was resolved in the field of international law, the problems arising from the clash with the national and moral ideals of the resistance movement and with the need to build a propagandistic image of the resistance were much more burdensome

The author of the article revises the process of gradual deconstruction of soviet metanarrative in literature of Russia, Belorussia and Ukraine after 1991st. Each of those literatures built its own identity, which had to replace soviet cultural discourse. That process was contradictory, but still quite productive. Contemporary post-soviet literature is in boundary situation. It means that the crisis of the transition period has not been completely overcome. The main problems in creating of the national narratives are neo-imperial (in Russia) or neo-colonial (in Belorussia and Ukraine) tendencies.

The author focuses on the problem of representation of traditional Czech sites of memory in the environment of digital platforms designed for travellers. The content analysis is divided into a visual and a narrative part, the key research topic being the stability of the national essence of memory in the digital environment. The assumption that the national narrative will not be the main component of the content is not entirely confirmed. Despite the international and intermediary nature of the platforms in use, user-generated content is sometimes based on national narratives. An important part of the paper is a theoretical and methodological discussion based on the concepts of media and memory studies.

The collapse of the Yugoslav federation was also a prerequisite for the disintegration of the Serbo-Croatian language. In connection with this, the key events in the 1990s of the last century were a precondition for creation of new borders also in the literary sense. Earlier controversies about the existence of the Serbo-Croatian literature unity were replaced by theoretical concepts of literary canons of the „successor“ literatures. This paper tries to analyze the situation of newly forming narratives of Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian and Montenegrin literature with an emphasis on the complex context of their historical development and contemporary interpretation of particular moments in the perspective of common borders of the new national literatures.

The article presents an analysis of the genesis of the concept of “Dualism of Central Europe” formulated by the outstanding Polish historian Oskar Halecki (1891– 1973) as a reflection on the historiographic tradition of Eastern Europe and reaction to the dichotomous political position “between Germany and Russia”.

Przeciwnicy Disraelego nazywali go cynicznym awanturnikiem i politycznym szarlatanem, motywowanym pragnieniem spełnienia swoich osobistych ambicji.

This article, which is in the borderland of political science, history and literary studies, focuses on Benjamin Disraeli’s unique and significant contribution to the evolution of the imperial idea. Although Disraeli descended from a modest family of Jewish immigrants, he first gained notoriety as an eccentric dandy and author of popular romances. Later he devoted himself to political career, but still wrote novels and political tracts. He made significant changes in the Conservative Party. Protection of the British Empire and its interests throughout the world belonged to his fundamental priorities. Opponents of Disraeli called him a cynical adventurer and political charlatan, motivated by the desire to fulfil his personal ambitions. An analysis of his achievements suggests a more cautious conclusion. Disraeli, who deeply believed in the need to preserve the tradition and monarchy, had a clear set of views and plans that came from his interpretation of history and observation of the political and social life of England. He inspired not only the political imagination of future generations of conservatives, but contributed significantly to the introduction of social reforms in Britain and to the flowering of the British Empire.
