The paper engages pan-social sociology of Bruno Latour in order to examine the possible realizations of post-anthropocentrist/posthumanistic proposition. The starting assumption is that posthumanism is possible only by naturalizing the human or humanising non-human entities. A number of naturalistic strategies of post-anthropocentrism are being presented and concepts of non-human actants and hybrid societies are being analyzed. Whenever analyzed ideas and processes seem to interfere with naturalistic categories, those categories are being used in analyses. The conclusion (derived, among other things, from the way natural categories work or do not work in humanistic context) is proposed that posthumanism, understood as inclusion of non-human entities in relations of meaning and, above all, political pragmatics is, indeed (a noble, maybe useful) form of hyperhumanism.
This is areview of the „The Orders of Nature” by Lawrence E. Cahoone, Professor of Philosophy at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester. It touches upon the subject of naturalism, which assumes that everything is all or a part of nature. Lawrence E. Cahoone has made this issue the subject of his thorough, multi-dimensional analysis, which results in the mentioned position. The reviewer presents the main ideas of specific chapters (the book has three parts, which include four, six and three chapters respectively). The author of this review shows the importance of this position for contemporary philosophy, as well as presents these aspects of „The Orders of Nature”, which can be considered controversial.

Autor poddaje recenzji książkę profesora filozofii College of the Holy Cross w Wor-cester Lawrenca E. Cahoone zatytułowaną: „The Orders of Nature”. Recenzent prezentuje główne myśli poszczególnych rozdziałów (książka posiada 3 części zawierające kolejno cztery, sześć i trzy rozdziały). Autor recenzji ukazuje znaczenie tej pozycji dla współczesnej filozo-fii, jak również przedstawia te aspekty „The Orders of Nature”, które uznać można za kontrowersyjne.
In the article, Feuerbach’s naturalism is analyzed and compared with Bakunin’s thought. Unlike Bakunin, Feuerbach suggests a distinction between the natural and the human. He excludes human activity and thought from the natural realm, and implies that while man is the product of nature and is dependent on it, he is somehow distinct from it and merely enclosed by it. Thus, despite Feuerbach’s naturalism, a certain dualism persists — a dualism Bakunin was to reject. Feuerbach’s political ideas are essentially Hegelian, that is, statist, and Bakunin has nothing but contempt for such a position. Feuerbach uncovers the ground of religious authority and establishes, at least provisionally, the relation between religious authority — divine and ecclesiastical — and political authority. Bakunin would maintain, however, that Feuerbach — following Hegel — misunderstands or mystifies political authority in “rationalizing” it, and this mystification of political authority is something Bakunin deplores. This mystification occurs with the claim that the State exists over and above “the strictly political state” as “the actuality of the ethical Idea”, that is, as an ethical community, or as “the actuality of concrete freedom”. The notion that the political and the ethical are in any way related, that the State is anything other than political, or that the State is the domain of concrete freedom, is unacceptable to Bakunin. While Feuerbach’s achievement lies, therefore, in exposing the mystification of religious authority, Bakunin’s lies in exposing the mystification of political authority and, by extension, scientific authority. As such Bakunin’s thought represents the culmination of the Left Hegelian project. Among all the proponents of this project (such as Bruno Bauer, Ruge, and Marx) Bakunin was the only one to hold that just as the conclusion of the critique of theology is anti-theologistic, that is, naturalistic and atheistic, so the conclusion of the critique of politics is anti-political, that is, anarchistic. Bakunin is the sole Left Hegelian to bring the project to its logical conclusion.
The article aims to demonstrate the naturalistic tendencies of Erich Fromm’s research that are apparent in his interpretations of the fragments of the Old Testament relating to the Sabbath and describing the fall of Adam and Eve. Erich Fromm finds a natural ally for his naturalistic tendencies in Zen Buddhism. In Fromm’s thought both naturalism and Zen Buddhism interpreted naturalistically join with Jacob Bachofen’s theory of matriarchate.
The problem of the relations between natural sciences and religious faith is an important issue in the philosophy of science, the philosophy of religion, and the philosophy of nature. Naturalism of natural sciences is a term used in discussions of problems that appear in this context. At least two types of naturalism are usually considered: ontological and methodological. In the article the author is trying to answer the following questions: Are natural sciences naturalistic? Is naturalism (methodological or ontological) an assumption of the sciences? Is this assumption essential for fruitful natural scientific practice? Ontological naturalism is a metaphysical assumption, having neither influence on the method of natural sciences, nor resulting from them. Methodological naturalism is not an assumption in natural sciences; it is rather a consequence of the naturalists’ aspiration to the maximal objectivization and intersubjective verifiability of their findings.

Neel Doff (1858–1940) is an extraordinary person in the history of Belgium literature. Extreme poverty and humiliation she had experienced in her early days are the main topic of her work. However, she does not document her life. It is more akin to a literary testimony of a growing self-consciousness, through which a social and cultural advancement of both the author and her character was made possible. The analysis included in the article is focused on her most outstanding work – the trilogy of “hunger and despair”. Key words: belgian literature; naturalism; populism; feminism; autofiction; identity;

The paper presents anthropological issues as one of the main topics of Nietzsche’s philosophy. I begin with how Nietzsche defines the goals of his anthropological reflection and then I identify the perspective of naturalism as its central interpretational tool. Subsequently I try to show how it is instrumentalized in order to develop correct – according to Nietzsche – characteristics of human being, and as a mean of Nietzsche’s critique of metaphysics. In this way conceiving man as “homo natura” allows to reflect on human in axiological context not limited by old metaphysical beliefs. This attempt of combining naturalistic dimension with axiological one determines specific character and importance of Nietzsche’s anthropology.
Stwierdzenie to prowadzi do dalszych badań. W celu uniknięcia pewnego dualizmu w percepcji osoby zakorzenionego we wskazanych wyżej stanowiskach rozwinięte zostaje podejście personalistyczne.

This article endeavours to sketch the debate about the concept of a person in the realm of bioethics. Initially, it sets out three understandings of the issue, namely the concept of a person in naturalistic philosophy, in the current of communitarianism and in one of the humanistic positions. The analysis of these approaches lead to the conclusion that a human person is perceived either as an empirical and psychological entity or as a free subjectivity creating him/herself. This thesis provides stimulation for further research. In order to avoid a kind of dualism in the perception of a person stemming from the stances outlined above, the personalistic approach is developed. This points out that a human being should be depicted as one indivisible entity unifying in itself more strictly its self, a subjective aspect of the person, with nature-body aspect which is an objective facet of being human. Given this personalistic perspective, a person comes out as an embodied subjectivity formed by the unique personal act of existence. In this article, such a concept of a person is argued as a vital support in the complex field of bioethical dilemmas.

This paper deals with a discussion concerning the value of life. Specifically, it addresses the idea of speciesism, a term coined by Peter Singer, whereby human life is endowed with special significance because of its membership in the species Homo sapiens. For Singer, it is an example of erroneous thinking. On such an account, the idea of human dignity seems to be highly problematic. In this article, the author directs a number of critical voices, both methodological and ontological, toward scepticism concerning a species belonging. He argues that natural species play quite important roles in the existing reality. The author further tries to prove that the realm of life should be associated with a so-called intrinsic value. In the light of that, any living entity possesses its axiological importance and should be considered and treated accordingly. Human dignity is a corollary of the special place accorded in such reasoning by the value of human life. The article concludes with a thesis that the stance arguing for human dignity is still unthreatened and ready for further development.
This article is devoted to the analysis and interpretation of Sygietyński’s novel in the perspective of ecological humanities. The world presented in On the Calvados’ rocks is shown as an ecosystem, in which relations between people, animals, plants are very crucial. Fishermen are aware of the fact that their existence depends on nature. Despite this fact they treat nature as an object, they immerse themselves in the process of consumption. Sygietyński anticipates the contemporary ecological thought about rational use of earthly goods.

The article presents a naturalized conceptual relativism of W.V.O. Quine in the perspective of the limits of knowledge. Quine was at the same time a conceptual relativist (we have many equivalent epistemological conceptual systems) and an empirical naturalist (he adopted a naturalistic concept of empirical content reduced to the stimuli received by our sensory surfaces as a part of linguistic behaviorism). Quine also directly addressed the issue of the limits of knowledge, but his main intention – as he points out – was above all the analysis and modification of the title problem, not the attempt to answer them. In short, according to Quine, this problem can be reduced to the linguistic context.

W artykule opisano znaturalizowany relatywizm pojęciowy W.V.O. Quine’a w perspektywie problematyki granic wiedzy. Krótko mówiąc, zdaniem Quine’a zagadnienie to można zredukować do kontekstu językowego.
The Resurrection of Christ is one of the fundamental dogmas of the Christian faith. Can this event be considered as a scientific fact? This article attempts to answer this question. In this work will be presented popular apology of Josh McDowell which states the opportunity to prove this fact. The different opinion will be shown in ideas of Michael Heller, which speaks of God’s action in the world without compromising methodological naturalism in science.

The main aim of this thesis is to present the methodological issue regarding TO science of law and concerning the method of practicing social sciences. The article stipulates naturalistic and non-naturalistic point of view, with particular emphasis on methodological aspect of this dispute. Conclusions SET out the answer on question if - due to the pragmatism - usage of those two models is possibile.

The conflict of interpretations on Pope Paul VI’s encyclical Humanae vitae in his relationship with the pastoral constitution Gaudium et spes of the Vatican Council II was rekindled with the triggering of the idea that Amoris laetitia represents a “paradigm shift” for the pastoral. The essay explores the contents of the theological debate around four themes: anthropology (which personalism?), the theology of marriage (what love?), morality (what conscience?), ecclesial practice (which pastoral care?). It results that there is the truth of the incarnation against a neo-gnostic drift in the interpretation of Humanae vitae, which unhinges love from the body, the person from nature, marriage from procreation and which ends up abandoning the doctrine of Church for the conveniences of an ambiguous primacy of pastoral care.

Violence is an inherent phenomenon in political processes. Although in commonly used discourses and value systems it is perceived negatively, one cannot deny that it has important social and political functions. In terms of power distribution, violence plays an ordering and hierarchical role. This paper's objective is to indicate a number of aspects pointing to the naturalistic sources of violence: from the philosophical reflec tions of the classic thinkers, through the conclusions from the observation of the natural world, to biopsychology. eTh paper attempts to recognize the foundations of aggressive human behavior, stripped of cultural inuflences and what can be considered unnatural.
The aim of the present investigation is to sketch a new approach to analysing normativity. First (§1–2) I locate the problem of normativity in the landscape of contemporary philosophy and focus on the dispute between naturalism and antinaturalism. Then (§3) I discuss the so-called top-down approach to studying normativity, to which I oppose the bottom-up approach inspired by contemporary philosophy of science (§4). I see the integration of these approaches as enabling investigations of normative phenomena that do not reduce them to just one type of normativity (e.g. morality).

Robert Boyle is the author of the original concept of mediation between the spheres of religious belief and scientific thought. This article presents Robert Boyle’s selected topics of philosophy that illustrate his points of view on the issue of the relationship between scientific knowledge and faith. In the literature, the views Boyle qualifies as an example of a conception of two books: the Book of Nature and The Scripture, or the conception "God-of-the-gaps." In this paper I dispute this view and demonstrate that Boyle’s conception the relationship between science and faith is similar but not identical to the contemporary theistic naturalism.
The model of the levels of analysis (MLA) is used to present a form of naturalistic theism where certain statements on special divine action (SDA) in nature are accepted. The SDA statements found within naturalistic theism ‘hide’ God’s action in certain aspects of nature or actions beyond the reach of scientific endeavors in order to avoid interventionism. From the perspective of the MLA, the essence of intervention is its empirical recognizability, rather than a particular causal joint or the violation of the laws of nature. Rejection of interventions in the above sense means substantial reinterpretation of Christian theism.
The model of levels of analysis (MLA) is used to describe naturalistic theism and compare statements describing divine action accepted within traditional Christian theism and naturalistic theism. The empirical/non-empirical character of the statements is the main criterion behind the division of the statements within the model. Naturalistic theism is divided into strong and weak, with the former being analyzed in more detail. Strong naturalistic theism is characterized as trying to avoid the conflict with science by only accepting statements describing general divine action in nature. Such statements belong to the metaphysical levels of analysis.
