Navigation in video games has been a vastly neglected topic in game studies. In this paper a classification system for navigational acts has been developed through theoretical work as well as the analysis of multiple games. The result is an exclusive five-step classification system. Moreover, the development showed that navigational acts are highly dependent on the environment in which they occur. The system is a first step towards a deeper understanding of how the player navigates the gameworld, instead of what she navigates.

For almost 100 years there has been no navigation in the Dead Sea. Its two banks are occupied by two states – Israel and Jordan – which do not maintain close relations with one another; yet, there are no lumps of asphalt any longer, and fishery has never existed here for obvious reasons. A research boat appears here sometimes, and that is it. That is why, more and more information on the archaeological discoveries testifying a rich history of the Dead Sea navigation causes such a big surprise. As it seems, it had been developing in the most intensive form between the 4th century BC and the AD 2nd century. The paper analyses nine ancient texts, which mentioned – in a more or less direct way – the navigation in the Dead Sea in the period in question: – three reports by Hieronymus of Cardia (4th–3rd centuries BC) kept in the version written by Diodorus of Sicily (1st century BC), – a note by Strabo (about 63 BC – AD 24) in his ‘Geography’, where he quotes a description of extracting asphalt coming from Posidonius of Rhodes (about 135–50 BC), – two texts by Titus Flavius Josephus (AD 37–94), – the description by Tacitus (about AD 55–120); – the text written by Marcus Junianius Justinus (AD 2nd–3rd centuries) based on Gnaeus Pompeius Trogus (the end of the 1st century BC), – a fragment of the letter written by Simon bar Kokhba (2nd century AC), in which he writes about the goods kept on ships in the port of Ein Gedi. The article also includes a short description of the iconographic information that has survived and a summary of the current state of archaeological research concerning the period the above mentioned written sources deal with.

Od niemal 100 lat żegluga po Morzu Martwym praktycznie nie istnieje. Dwa jego brzegi zajmują nieutrzymujące ze sobą ścisłych stosunków państwa Izrael i Jordania, na jego wodach nie unoszą się już bryły asfaltu, a rybołówstwo z oczywistych względów nigdy tutaj nie istniało. Od czasu do czasu pojawi się tutaj co najwyżej jakaś łódź badawcza. Tym większe zdziwienie i zainteresowanie budzą coraz liczniejsze informacje o odkryciach archeologicznych świadczących o bogatej historii żeglugi po tym akwenie. Wydaje się, że najbardziej intensywnie rozwijała się ona w okresie pomiędzy IV w. BC a II w. AC. Artykuł poświęcono analizie dziewięciu tekstów antycznych, które w mniej lub bardziej bezpośredni sposób informują o żegludze w tym właśnie okresie. Omówione teksty to: – trzy relacje Hieronima z Cardii (IV/III w. BC) zachowane w wersji Diodora Sycylijskiego (I w. BC), – notatka Strabona (ok. 63 BC–24 AC) w jego dziele Geografia, w której cytuje on opis wydobycia asfaltu pochodzący od Posejdoniosa z Rodos (ok. 135–50 BC), – dwa teksty Józefa Flawiusza (37– ok. 94 AC), – opis Tacyta (ok. 55–120 AC), – opinia Marka Junianusa Justyniusa (II/III w. AC) przekazana przez Pompejusza Trogusa (koniec I w. BC), – fragment listu Bar Kochby (II w AC), w którym pisze on o towarach przechowywanych na statkach w porcie w En Gedi. W artykule znalazło się także krótkie omówienie zachowanych informacji ikonograficznych oraz streszczono aktualny stan badań archeologicznych dotyczących okresu, o którym donoszą wcześniej przedstawione źródła pisane.

Researches above the history of coming into existence of the first housing estates, their development and forming state institutions in contemporary Ukraine and Europe are valuable memorial of the modern society. For the development of humanity is important to take control of water spaces by creating different kinds of swimming devices Kievan Rus’ and Kingdom of Galicia-Volhynia were huge “active” medieval countries in Europe, which did distant war expeditions. Wellknown facts of marine expeditions of ukrainian knyazes is confirm of the expedition on rivers Volga, Don, Donuа, Tisza, the Vistula, Bug ets. The stateowned fleet protected the own earth and went to the sea travels to territory neighbour states. Concluded international Kievan Rus’ and Byzantine Empire not only had a geopolitical meaning, but also were example of the early codification of norms of the maritime law, in which such values as the human life, his freedom and the property were protect.

Badania naukowe nad historią powstawania pierwszych osiedli, ich rozwojem i tworzeniem instytucji państwowych na terenie współczesnej Ukrainy i Europy są cennymi atutami współczesnego społeczeństwa. Szczególną rolą dla rozwoju ludzkości jest opanowanie przestrzeni wodnych poprzez tworzenie różnych rodzajów „środków pływających”. Zaproponowano prawną analizę Rusi Kijowskiej i Księstwa Halicko-Włodzimierskiego jako potężnych „aktywnych” średniowiecznych europejskich państw, które podejmowały odległe wyprawy wojenne. Potwierdzeniem tego są znane fakty pieszych wypraw książąt ukraińskich za rzeki Wołga, Don, Dunaj, Cisa, Wisła, Bug, itp. Flota państwowa przeprowadzała obronę własnej ziemi i wprowadziła podróże morskie na terytorium sąsiednich i dalekich państw. Zawarte traktaty międzypaństwowe Rusi Kijowskiej i Bizancjum miały nie tylko znaczenie geopolityczne, ale służyły również jako przykłady wczesnej kodyfikacji norm prawa morskiego, w których wartości, takie jak życie ludzkie, jego wolność i własność były przedmiotem ochrony i zabezpieczenia.

Zintegrowane systemy biblioteczne nowej generacji, zwane również systemami typu discovery and delivery lub search and discovery, zaliczane są do istotnych innowacji w zakresie techniki wyszukiwania informacji oraz jej prezentowania, m.in. ze względu na poszerzenie zasięgu przeszukiwania o dokumenty elektroniczne udostępniane w bazach danych i repozytoriach cyfrowych. Istotną rolę w ich prawidłowym funkcjonowaniu odgrywają systemy nawigacji ułatwiające użytkownikom odkrywanie drogi do celu. Przedmiotem artykułu jest analiza porównawcza elementów systemów nawigacji zastosowanych w interfejsach użytkownika systemów bibliotecznych nowej generacji (VuFind, Primo ExLibris, SummonProQuest, Encore InnovativeInterfaces, ProlibIntegro, Virtua/Chamo), a szczególnie wizualizacja ich mechanizmów, służących kierowaniu użytkownika do szukanego dokumentu, a także ułatwiających podejmowanie decyzji o wyborze następnej opcji lub linku.

Next generation Integrated Library Systems (NGILS) also known as discovery and delivery systems or search and discovery systems, are claimed to be significant innovation in information searching field as well as its visualisation methods. One of the explanation is extended retrieval scope including e-documents in data bases and repositories. Navigation systems have a significant meaning in properly functionality of NGILS. Navigation provide ways to achievement of users’ goals. Main aim of the article is a comparative analysis of navigation systems in selected NGILS: VuFind (open source), Primo ExLibris, Summon ProQuest, Encore Innovative Interfaces, ProlibIntegro, Virtua/Chamo. The visualisation layer of NGILS navigation mechanisms was also discussed. Optimal visualisation of interfaces and navigation assist users in making decision process, and in link selection.
