Wątkiem przewodnim opracowania są fragmenty niepublikowanego pamiętnika polskiego pacjenta przebywającego w izolatorium gruźliczym w wielkopolskiej Obrze k. Wolsztyna. Młody człowiek, pochodzący ze Swarzędza trafił tam w 1943r. podczas okupacji hitlerowskiej. W codziennych zapiskach przedstawia monotonię życia w warunkach odosobnienia i dramatyczne losy pacjentów. Widoczne są niedostatki i nieefektywność stosowanych działań leczniczych. Dziennik stanowi przyczynek do długiej historii zmagań z gruźlicą oraz społecznej i kulturowej percepcji tej rozpowszechnionej do niedawna choroby.

The main part of work is based on excerpts of diary unpublished until now, written by one man stayed in isolation ward for consumptive patients in Obra near Wolsztyn(Great Poland region). This young Polish arrived there in 1943, during nazi occupation of Poland, from his family town- Swarzędz. In everyday's notes, he shows monotony of then life and dramatic stories of other patients. We can see shortages and uneffectivity of medical treatment, severity of care. The diary i another. especial addition to a long history of human strugglings with consumption. It has a close connections also, with social and cultural (public) perception of dangerous disease, frequent in previous centuries.
