The paper presents a simple semi-automatic neologism detection procedure: a trivial Python script processes a text file, making use of a Czech morphological tagger, and extracts all words unrecognized by the tagger as potential neologisms. The list of these candidates has to be checked by a human (hence the label semi-automatic). This method was applied to a set of texts that were also analyzed in a more traditional way, by the “reading and marking” technique (i.e. the current practice). The comparison of the two methods has revealed that the semi-automatic procedure clearly outperforms the current practice both in speed and in efficiency.

Slovotvorné "excesy" ve starší češtině?

The word “neústrojný” (inorganic) is used in lexicography to describe some Old and Middle Czech lexical units. It designates lexical units with unusual word-formative structure and timelimited usage, as well as those on the boundary of the word-formative system. The contemporary Czech lexicological terms “neologism” and especially “occasional word” are essentially very close to this categorization. In spite of the fact that lexical units described using these terms often disrupt the word-formative system of the given time period, we understand them as peripheral components, as the (unsuccessful) results of intuitive attempts at systemic changes, and as manifestations of the developmental dynamics of the word-formative system.

The article deals with the emergence of new connotations in word formation using the suffix -ózní (-osní) for adjectival neologisms and occasionalisms. In contemporary spoken and written Czech language there are a number of such neologisms. The author bases his findings in examining the SYN2015 corpus of the Czech National Corpus and available Czech dictionaries. Besides neologisms and occasionalism, the attention is given to loans that are already used and terminological adjectives with the aforementioned suffix.
