Przedmiotem artykułu jest rozwój semantyczny przymiotnika „flagowy”. Większość słowników języka polskiego odnotowuje tylko jedno znaczenie leksemu – ‘przymiotnik od flaga’. Okazuje się jednak, że we współczesnej polszczyźnie przymiotnik ten funkcjonuje w licznych nowych znaczeniach. „Flagowy” to m.in.: ‘najbardziej reprezentatywny dla jakiegoś okresu, ruchu, środowiska; sztandarowy’, ‘mający największą wartość, największe znaczenie, najlepszy’, ‘często spotykany; typowy, powszechny’. Neosemantyzacja tego leksemu to zapewne rezultat oddziaływania języka angielskiego, ale niewykluczony jest też rozwój na gruncie rodzimym.

The subject of the article is the semantic development of the adjective “flagowy”. Most Polish language lexicons present only one meaning of the lexeme: ‘the adjectival form of the word flag’. However, it turns out that in the contemporary Polish language the adjective functions in numerous new meanings. “Flagowy” means, inter alia: ‘the most characteristic of a given period, movement, environment; typical’, ‘having the highest value, the most significant, the best’, ‘frequently occurring; usual, common’. Neosemantization of that lexeme is probably the result of the influence of English, but the local development is also possible.
This article describes the changes that occur in the use of the expression suweren in the contemporary language of politics in Poland. The author assumes that over the past two years increasing occurrence of this expression has been observed and thus analyzes the consequences of increasing frequency on the meaning, expression and pragmatic level.
