In processing companies, one of the problems they face is the final use of the waste generated by raw materials. For this reason, finding processing options for its use which at the same time generate income is an alternative for the management of new businesses. In Mexico, 33% of entrepreneurs seek to solve problems in the market or society, diversifying their source of income and expanding their creativity. The objective of this research is to develop new products from the industrial waste of shrimp and mango peels. The collection of information focused on the review of literature reports and reports from sources such as the Agro-Food and Fisheries Information Service (SIAP), the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), the Council for Economic Development of Sinaloa (CODESIN), the Ministry of Economy, among others; contemplating the development of new products and entrepreneurship as an object of study. According to the diagnosis made by CODESIN, the areas with the greatest opportunity in the short term (1 to 3 years) to develop new products or, therefore, businesses in the bioeconomy area are processed foods, biofertilizers, and nutraceuticals. In conclusion, the development of a new product, such as shrimp and mango sauce, is an option for engineering and design, representing an area of opportunity for the operation of new businesses.

The aim of the study is to present a model of measuring the quality of market information as a second-order factor model. To receive this model the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was used. The rationale for creating the second-order model was high correlation of the four originally assumed factors in the first-order measuremment model as well as substantive reasons. The first-order factors under consideration were reliability, completeness, relevance, and timeliness of information. The study used orginal data of new product projects in which we measured reliability, completeness, usefulness and timeliness of the information available in the new product development. The sample was randomly selected from the national population of high and medium-high technology firms, employing more than 49 people. We received a second-order general factor – quality of the information – that explained the high correlation among the four first-order factors. The resulting model had an acceptable level of data fit and relevant and high factor loadings for both, first and second order models.

An important question on the battlefield of product innovation is how to invest effectively limited resources in research and development and product innovation process? Useful in solving this problem are various methods of portfolio management. Today’s new product designs will determine the product range and market profile of the company in the future. Product portfolio renewal rate increases in a variety of companies in various economic sectors. Already about 50% of current sales come from new products launched in the past five years (approximately 30% of sales come from new products launched in the last three years). Managers who can optimize their investments in R & D and product innovation, have a much better chance of winning in the long run. But how to manage a portfolio of product innovations projects in order to achieve a sufficient and satisfactory return on investment? There are many different methods and tools to gain valuable information, but even their use does not give easy answers. In this article we shall identify the modified methods, objectives, areas and problems of new products portfolio management.

Ever-growing competition on the food market forces food producers to launch new products onto the market more frequently. The article discusses models of the new food product development process, definitions and classifications of new products and new food product success measures and factors that influence the effectiveness of the development process. It presents the factors that influence the success of the development processes and describes the importance of the development process for building efficient product portfolios and marketing strategies. It concludes with a look at the advantages to a company of using food product development processes.

The purpose of the study is to determine how the sources of market information influence the qualitative attributes of information. Three types of market information sources were taken into account – i.e. buyers, competitors and, as a separate group, other market entities (e.g. intermediaries, suppliers) as well as four essential qualitative attributes of information, i.e. reliability, completeness, usefulness, and timeliness. We used structural equation modelling to verify the model in which the acquisition of market information from each source affects the qualitative attributes of information. The work is based on data about new product development projects, collected among high-tech and medium high-tech companies. The results indicate that the acquisition of market information from buyers positively impacts the reliability, completeness, usefulness as well as timeliness of information, while from competitors – only usefulness and timeliness.
