Artykuł podejmuje tematykę powstawania nowych przysłów we współczesnym języku polskim. Autor prezentuje poglądy paremiologów w kwestii definicyjnych cech klasycznie definiowanych proverbiów i odnosi je do nowych zjawisk paremicznych obserwowanych we współczesnej komunikacji. Opowiada się za rewizją wagi takich cech paremii, jak tradycja, powszechność użycia i znajomość przysłów. Rozważania teoretyczne uzupełnia omówienie wyników ankiety przeprowadzonej wśród młodzieży szkolnej, której celem było ustalenie, jak młodzi użytkownicy języka polskiego definiują i egzemplifikują pojęcie „nowe przysłowie”.

The paper discusses the concept of “new proverbs” in modern Polish, with reference to two of the main defining characteristics of paremias, such as traditionality and currency. The article presents the results of a questionnaire conducted in a group of secondary school students and analyzes the data with special regard to the types of “new proverbs” identified. On the basis of the study the author offers general observations concerning modern proverbs in Polish.
