Pedagogy of work as a sub-discipline of pedagogy has shaped the subject of its scientific inquiry and possesses the language of concepts, theorems, and research methodology in terms of professional preparation and functioning of a human in the working environment and the conditions of his or her professional development. Since the beginning of the 1970s, when the foundations of pedagogy of work were laid, until now its research areas have been clearly distinguished. The progress of civilization and the accompanying changes in the content and forms of work create the need to broaden the interests of job educators in new research areas and research problems. Functioning of a person in extreme working conditions is one of the subjects that requires additional research.

Pedagogika pracy jako subdyscyplina pedagogiki ma ukształtowany przedmiot swoich dociekań naukowych, język pojęć, twierdzeń i metodologię badań w zakresie przygotowania zawodowego i funkcjonowania człowieka w środowisku pracy oraz warunków jego rozwoju zawodowego. Od początku lat 70. ubiegłego wieku, kiedy powstały zręby pedagogiki pracy, aż do chwili obecnej wyraźnie wyodrębnione zostały jej obszary badawcze. Postęp cywilizacyjny i towarzyszące mu zmiany w zakresie treści i form pracy powodują potrzebę rozszerzenia zainteresowań pedagogów pracy na nowe obszary badawcze i problemy badawcze. Penetracji badawczej wymaga m.in. funkcjonowanie człowieka w ekstremalnych warunkach pracy.
