This article discusses the derivational morphology of Bulgarian nominal neologisms for persons of female gender, which are constructed either by combining forms or as compounds, in adjectival phrases. The combining forms have an abstract or concrete meaning and are termed prefixoids and radixoids respectively, whereas the compounds consist of ‘a noun + the head noun’ or ‘an acronym + the head noun’ structures and are termed syntactic compounds. Although these nouns are formed according to patterns that existed in Bulgarian even before 1989, their number is now considerably on the increase due to the influence from English.
