The aim of this article is to compare Roland Barthes‘ thought construct of the ideal text with selected original works in the field of electronic literature. The link between this idea and this type of work is assumed on the basis of interconnections and references in foreign theoretical texts on electronic literature. In the first part of the article, the concept itself is introduced in its original context of the S/Z book. Subsequently, the links are presented between the ideal text and the theories referring to it. In the second part of the text, it is shown, using a representative sample of original works of electronic literature, where this analogy can be traced and where it cannot.

This study deals with the transformation that Czech literature and literary culture have undergone as new media and communications technologies (particularly the internet) have come onto the scene and proliferated since the latter half of the 1990s. The study comes together with a contrasting analysis of the relations between the 1920s Czech literary avant-garde and film, the new media of its era. The methodological framework for the study is the concept of remediation as presented by Jay David Bolter and adapted by the author of the study for the requirements of literary history research. The material that is reviewed is structured in terms of two key spheres, the first being formed by the Czech internet environment itself, giving rise to new possibilities and opportunities for creative work, as well as the presentation and reflection of literary texts (hypertexts structures, literary forums and blogs), while the second refer at the compositional, genre and thematic levels to the new digital technologies and media (the blog novel, e-mail novel and text-message poems). In conclusion the study defines three basic ways in which Czech literature interacts with the internet (for artistic, distributive and marketing use).

The article provides a critical analysis of the requirements of objective and balanced information in broadcasting, which are contained in Act No. 231/2001 Coll., on the Operation of Radio and Television Broadcasting and on Amendments to Other Acts, as amended, and also in the previous legislation. The article attempts to explain the nature of these requirements in the current social context. It comes to the general conclusion that these requirements are intended to represent general ideas of journalistic ethics and related ethical standards, which (in the case of some programmes, especially news programmes) are actually enforced through state supervision of radio and television broadcasting. This framework seems rational, at least in terms of the congruence of the public interest towards which both journalistic ethics and state supervision of broadcasting are in principle aimed. From this perspective, the so-called new media, which may replace the “traditional” media in practice and which are generally more loosely regulated by law (and to which the comparable requirement of objectivity and balance of information does not usually apply), appear problematic. The future solution to this disparity may be both to strengthen the regulation of the new media and/or to deregulate the traditional media in some way.
