Background. Specialised associations and eminent individuals contribute to present day fighting arts as an area of research and as a cultural phenomenon. This, in turn turns imperceptibly into history. Is it not worth monitoring these events on an ongoing basis, and recording the facts? Inevitably the choice will always be subjective. Problem. The cognitive aim of the study is a factual analysis of the environment (martial arts and combat sports and warrior cultures), and in particular the researchers in this field. The study is based on the city of Rzeszow, the home of the Idokan Poland Association (IPA), and IMACSSS, and also takes a wider international view. Scientific and methodological events and new literature on the subject are reviewed. Method. The main qualitative method used here is the multiple case study research method , both descriptive and interpretive, and evaluative. Data was collected between November 2019 and November 2020 and in many cases, the authors were direct observers of the events. The publications however were evaluated using the content analysis method. Results and Conclusions. A series of events was identified and evaluated in short reviews, as well as a series of publications which are all of interest given the thematic profile of our Journal. The situation of both the fighting arts environment and researchers in the field is being monitored on an ongoing basis, with photographic and descriptive documentation.

Tło. Wyspecjalizowane stowarzyszenia oraz wybitne jednostki współtworzą teraźniejszość fighting arts, jako jednocześnie obszaru badań i fenomenu kulturowego. To zaś niepostrzeżenie przekształca się w historię. Czy nie warto monitorować tych wydarzeń na bieżąco, spisując ich faktografię? Siłą rzeczy, będzie to zawsze dobór subiektywny. Problem. Celem poznawczym badania jest faktograficzny opis i analiza środowiska (sztuk walki i sportów walki oraz kultur wojowników), szczególnie badaczy tego obszaru. Badanie dotyczy miasta Rzeszowa, siedziby SIP (i IMACSSS) oraz szerszej skali międzynarodowej. Dokonano przeglądu wydarzeń naukowych i metodyczno-szkoleniowych oraz nowej literatury przedmiotu. Metoda. Główną zastosowaną tutaj metodą jakościową jest badanie wielu studiów przypadku, zarówno opisowe, interpretacyjne, jak i oceniające. Dane gromadzono między listopadem 2019 r. a listopadem 2020. W wielu przypadkach autorzy byli bezpośrednimi obserwatorami wydarzeń, a publikacje były oceniane przy użyciu metody analizy treści. Wyniki i wnioski. W krótkich recenzjach wskazano i oceniono szereg wydarzeń, a także szereg publikacji, interesujących z punktu widzenia profilu tematycznego naszego czasopisma. Sytuacja środowiska sztuk walki i badaczy jest na bieżąco monitorowana za pomocą dokumentacji fotograficznej i opisowej.

Treść dotyczy kolejno – wspomnienia ważnych postaci sztuk walki, które odeszły; awansów naukowych i awansów w sztukach walki; przyznanych nagród i odznaczeń; przyjęcia nowych członków do Stowarzyszenia Idokan Polska (SIP); konferencji i innych ważnych wydarzeń. Następnie przedstawione są noty o nowych publikacjach z ich krótką recenzją. Jest to nie tylko faktografia, ale także wartościowanie, wynikające z doboru wydarzeń i literatury oraz ocen merytorycznych.

Aim. The aim of the Chronicle is to gather source material in order to document the history and development of the institutions of cultural studies, martial arts and cultural tourism. It is also a review of publications and events in this area of interest. Method. Information and detailed data were collected from different sources: direct reports, publications online resources. Illustrations (photos) are autotelic. This is a general description of events supported by commentary and analysis of content. Results. In addition to individual facts, concerning, for example, awards and promotions, a series of events are described and reviewed. This is followed by reviews of 28 books, and other major publications. Conclusions. Probably the most important event of the analysed period was the 3rd World Scientific Congress of Combat Sports and Martial Arts, and the 3rd IMACSSS International Conference in Rzeszów. As a result of these, institutional and qualitative developments in martial arts science can be seen.

Celem jest ukazanie faktografii, a więc zebranie materiału źródłowego do historii i instytucjonalizacji studiów kulturowych, sztuk walki i turystyki kulturowej. Jest to także recenzja publikacji i wydarzeń w interesującej nas dziedzinie. Metoda. Informacje i dane szczegółowe zebrano sięgając do różnych źródeł – relacji bezpośrednich, publikacji, treści internetowych. Ilustracja (zdjęcia) ma tu charakter autoteliczny. Jest to generalnie opis zdarzeń poparty komentarzem oraz analiza treści. Wyniki. Oprócz faktów indywidualnych, dotyczących na przykład nagród i awansów, opisano i zrecenzowano serię kilkunastu wydarzeń. Następnie przedstawiono noty recenzyjne o 28 książkach i innych ważnych publikacjach. Wnioski. Bodajże najważniejszym wydarzeniem analizowanego okresu był 3rd World Scientific Congress of Combat Sports and Martial Arts, i 3rd IMACSSS International Conference in Rzeszów. Można także stwierdzić, że następuje instytucjonalny i jakościowy rozwój nauki o sztukach walki.

The following work is a chronicle and review compiling the most important scientific events in the field of martial arts, which took place between December 2014 and December 2015. There are also analyses and reflections on the events, research and publications in the fields of cultural tourism, cultural dialogue and sport science. There are also notes describing a series of conferences, seminars and workshop including the 22nd General Assembly Commemoration Symposium in Rzeszow, the 1st Wroclaw Congress of Chinese Martial Arts and the 4th IMACSSS International Conference. The Chronicle also mentions those people who have contributed significantly to the study of martial arts and social studies: Werner Lind, Tadeusz Kochanowski, Barbara Krawczyk and Kazimierz Obodynski. The paper also includes a list of people promoted to higher ranks, honoured with awards or rewarded in other ways. New members of the IPA and new publications in the widely-understood area of martial arts science, social studies, anthropological studies, physical culture and tourism are listed.

Praca jest kroniką i recenzją wybranych ważniejszych wydarzeń naukowych i z zakresu studiów sztuk walki, które miały miejsce w okresie od grudnia 2014 do grudnia 2015. Analizy i refleksje dotyczą także wydarzeń, badań i publikacji z obszaru turystyki kulturowej, dialogów kulturowych i nauk o sporcie. Przedstawiono noty o serii konferencji, seminariów i warsztatów, jak np. 22nd General Assembly Commemoration Symposium in Rzeszów, I Wrocławski Kongres Chińskich Sztuk Walki, 4th IMACSSS International Conference. Wspomniane zostały osoby zasłużone dla badań sztuk walki i badań społecznych: Werner Lind, Tadeusz Kochanowski, Barbara Krawczyk i Kazimierz Obodyński. Przytoczono osoby promowane na wyższe stopnie, uhonorowane odznaczeniami lub nagrodzone w inny sposób. Wymieniono nowych członków SIP. TThe following work is a chronicle (factual material plus assessment and comments) compiling the most important scientific events in the field of martial arts and cultural tourism research, which took place at the end of 2012 and throughout 2013. These include the 3rd International Symposium of Idokan Poland, organized in Rzeszów on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the IPA; the 46th Conference of the Japanese Academy of Budo connected with the International Conference of IMACSSS in Tsukuba, the 5th Conference of ISSSS (International Society of Social Science of Sport) in Porto, and the 9th International Conference “Sport and Quality of Life” in Brno. The Chronicle mentions the people who have contributed significantly to the study of martial arts in Poland and Germany such as Eryk Murlowski and Prof. Horst Tiwald. There is also a list of people promoted to higher ranks (scientific or in martial arts), honoured with awards or rewarded in other ways. The new members of IPA are listed. The last part of the journal contains a brief overview of new publications in the broadly understood area of martial arts and combat sports, as well as socio-cultural, humanistic, physical culture and tourism studies.

Praca jest kroniką (faktografia plus oceny i komentarze) najważniejszych wydarzeń naukowych z dziedziny sztuk walki oraz badań kulturowych i turystyki kulturowej, które miały miejsce w końcu 2012 i w roku 2013. Były to m.in. III Międzynarodowe Sympozjum Idokan Polska, zorganizowane w Rzeszowie z okazji XX-lecia SIP; 46 Konferencja Japońskiej Akademii Budo połączona z Międzynarodową Konferencją IMACSSS – w Tsukubie, V Konferencja ISSSS – Międzynarodowego Towarzystwa nauk Społecznych o Sporcie- w Porto, oraz IX Międzynarodowa Konferencja „Sport a jakość życia” w Brnie. Wspomniane zostały osoby zasłużone dla badań sztuk walki w Polsce i w Niemczech – Eryk Murlowski i prof. Horst Tiwald. Przytoczono osoby promowane na wyższe stopnie (naukowe lub w sztukach walki), uhonorowane odznaczeniami lub nagrodzone w inny sposób. Wymieniono nowych członków SIP. Ostatnia część kroniki zawiera krótkie omówienie nowości wydawniczych dotyczących szeroko pojętej dziedziny sztuk walki i sportów walki, oraz badań społeczno-kulturowych i humanistycznych, kultury fizycznej i turystyki.

Problem. The cognitive aim of the study is a factual analysis of the fighting arts environment, especially the researchers of this area. The study concerns the city of Rzeszow, the seat of the IPA and IMACSSS, and wider international scale. Scientific and methodological events and latest literature on the subject are evaluated. The paper also describes changes in the type of substance presented and the development of our Journal. Method. The main qualitative method used here is the multiple case study research, both descriptive, interpretive and evaluative. Data was collected between November 2018 and November 2019. In many cases, the authors were direct observers of the events, whereas the publications were evaluated using the content analysis method. A comparison of the content of chronicles published in six consecutive volumes of this periodical was also carried out, with statistical compilation and highlighting the main trends. Results. A series of events was indicated and evaluated in short reviews of 27 publications, interesting from the point of view of the thematic profile of our Journal. The trend of constant increase in reviews of studies strictly on fighting arts was observed, and the assessment made by the Polish Ministry of Science was compared to the Fibonacci numerical sequence. Conclusions. The development of our periodical is taking place in the direction of thematic specialisation. The situation of fighting arts environment and researchers is being monitored on an ongoing basis, with photographic and descriptive documentation.

Problem. Celem poznawczym jest analiza faktograficzna dotycząca środowiska sztuk walki (szerzej rozumianych), a zwłaszcza badaczy tego obszaru. Rzecz dotyczy miasta Rzeszowa, siedziby SIP oraz IMACSSS, oraz skali szerszej, międzynarodowej. Ocenie podlegają imprezy naukowe i metodyczne oraz nowa literatura przedmiotu. Rzecz dotyczy także zmian w rodzaju prezentowanych treści i rozwoju naszego periodyku. Metoda. Główną metodą jakościową tutaj zastosowaną jest wielokrotne stadium przypadku, zarówno opisowe, interpretacyjne i oceniające. Dane zbierano w okresie listopad 2018 – listopad 2019. W wielu przypadkach autorzy byli bezpośrednimi obserwatorami wydarzeń. Z kolei publikacje zostały ocenione metodą analizy treści. Przeprowadzono też porównanie treści kronik opublikowanych w sześciu kolejnych tomach tego periodyku, z opracowaniem statystycznym i wyeksponowaniem głównej tendencji. Wyniki. Wskazano serię zdarzeń i oceniono w krótkich recenzjach 27 publikacji, interesujących dla profilu tematycznego naszego Journala. Stwierdzono tendencję stałego wzrostu recenzji prac z tematyki stricte sztuk walki, a oceny dokonane przez polskie Ministerstwo nauki porównano do ciągu liczbowego Fibonacci’ego. Wnioski. Rozwój naszego periodyku następuje w kierunku tematycznej specjalizacji. Na bieżąco monitorowana jest sytuacja środowiska sztuk walki i badaczy tychże, z dokumentacją fotograficzną i opisową.
