Jacek Woroniecki, his attitude and views were greatly influenced by his family background, environment, teachers, then the Dominicans and the eminent figures that he met in his life. At the heart of his world view lay the faith and education propounded by the Catholic Church, and – later in his life – religious formation, papal documents and the writings of church thinkers of his time. His views and thought were also influenced by the historical events that he participated in. Also, the social situation in Poland and in Europe as a whole left a mark in his perception of the world.

Znaczący wpływ na Jacka Woronieckiego, na jego postawę i poglądy wywarło środowisko rodzinne, otoczenie, nauczyciele, następnie dominikanie oraz wybitne jednostki, które spotykał na swojej drodze życia. U podstaw jego spojrzenia na świat leżała wiara i wychowanie według zasad Kościoła katolickiego, a w życiu dojrzałym formacja zakonna, dokumenty papieskie i pisma współczesnych mu myślicieli Kościoła. Na jego poglądy i myśl wpływały także wydarzenia historyczne, których był uczestnikiem. Również sytuacja społeczna w Polsce, a także w całej Europie zostawiły ślad w jego postrzeganiu świata.

The publication points at the subject of the need of father Jacek Woroniecki’s person’s and  teaching’s memory. In general, it brings closer who he was and through what he deserved posterity’s remembrance. The author of the publication shows the essence of his contribution to the development of pedagogics as such and the Catholic pedagogogics in particular. Therefore she brings up the arguments which make father Jacek Woroniecki’s ideas about understanding the problem of education as well as preceptor’s or role model’s meaning for the education stand the test of time.

Autorka artykułu przekonuje o potrzebie pamięci o osobie i nauczaniu o. Jacka Woronieckiego. W ogólności przybliża, kim był i poprzez co zasłużył sobie na pamięć potomnych. Wskazuje, na czym polegał wkład Woronieckiego w rozwój pedagogiki jako takiej, a pedagogiki katolickiej w szczególności. W tym celu przywołuje argumenty, za sprawą których  poglądy o. Jacka Woronieckiego dotyczące rozumienia kwestii wychowania i roli wychowawcy czy autorytetu w wychowaniu wytrzymują próbę czasu.

The article presents the issue of the aretological basis of upbringing. An attempt has been made to answer the question about the legitimacy of referring to the virtue theory in upbringing proposed by Father Jacek Woroniecki. Arguments confirming the need to refer to the virtue theory in upbringing have been presented. It has been shown that the efficiency proposed by Fr. Jacek Woroniecki: prudence, justice, valour, moderation and faith, hope, love as well as piety can constitute current goals of education. Their realization contributes to updating the potential of the pupil and may be a response to the crisis of education observed today. Father Jacek Woroniecki criticized the approach of moral intellectualism, emphasizing that involving not only reason but also will in the upbringing to the virtues is necessary for the pupil to acquire the virtues.

Artykuł podejmuje problematykę aretologicznych podstaw wychowania. Podjęto w nim próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie o zasadność odwoływania się w wychowaniu do teorii cnót, zaproponowanej przez o. Jacka Woronieckiego. Przedstawiono argumenty potwierdzające potrzebę odwoływania się w wychowaniu do tej teorii. Wykazano, że zaproponowane przez o. Jacka Woronieckiego sprawności: roztropność, sprawiedliwość, męstwo, umiarkowanie oraz wiara, nadzieja, miłość, a także pobożność mogą stanowić aktualne cele wychowania. Ich realizacja przyczynia się do aktualizacji potencjalności wychowanka i może stanowić odpowiedź na obserwowany współcześnie kryzys wychowania. Podjęto za o. Jackiem Woronieckim krytykę stanowiska intelektualizmu moralnego, podkreślając, że uwzględnienie w wychowaniu do cnót nie tylko rozumu, ale i woli jest konieczne do nabycia samych cnót.
