Continuing the discussion about (para)pronouns the author presents her analysis of the Polish lexeme obecny 'present'. She also adds some comments to her earlier analysis of the lexeme wspólny 'common, shared'. She tries to formulate a working definition of the concept '(para)pronouns' and compares the possible extension of that concept with the class of shifters as defined by R. Jakobson, and with the concept of the "okkasionelle Ausdruck" as defined by Husserl.
The author analyzes the semantic evolution of Polish adjectives obcy and obecny, deriving from the Common Slavic *o b ь t' ь. They are both shifters, which means that their reference is context dependent. She demonstrates that their lines of semantic evolution in Polish are unique in the Slavic linguistic world.
