Współcześnie można odnotować nasilającą się debatę wokół aktywnej roli, jaką odegrała neoliberalna ideologia i związana z nią ekonomia w powstawaniu kryzysu. Polaryzacja stanowisk badaczy w tej dziedzinie jest znaczna: począwszy od negacji tej roli, a skończywszy na jej zdecydowanej afirmacji. Celem analizy jest wniesienie wkładu do wspomnianej debaty, zaś hipoteza jest następująca: historyczny rozwój ekonomii głównego nurtu i jej wpływu na gospodarkę w znacznym stopniu zdeterminował wybuch kryzysu na wielką skalę. W analizie dokonuję wglądu w niektóre aspekty metodologii ekonomii zarówno ortodoksyjnej, jak i heterodoksyjnej, formułując własne stanowisko na podstawie znaczącej literatury. Krytyka tradycyjnego paradygmatu oraz przegląd innowacyjnych nurtów badań nie wskazują jednak prostej drogi do nowego paradygmatu, co nakazuje patrzeć w przyszłość z umiarkowanym optymizmem zwłaszcza w odniesieniu do aplikacyjnych walorów teorii ekonomii.

An active role of the neoliberal ideology as well as of the neoclassical economics, connected with the former, in creating global crises is subject to the current debate. One can notice the growing diversification of contributors representing the followers or the critics as far as the above-mentioned role is concerned. The study is aimed at contributing to the wide-spreading debate and the author puts forward a clear thesis: historical development of both the mainstream economics and the economics utility in practice heavily affected the post 2008 global crises. The analysis contains insight into selected aspects of the methodology of both the orthodox and the heterodox economics. A brief overview of the recent literature results in the author’s pessimistic reflection: the extended criticism of the mainstream as well as the investigation of the modern findings are unlikely to create foundation of a new paradigm, competitive to orthodox one.
