Theoretical background: The paper shows that increase in sales and profit margins is only partially dependent on the implementation of advertising activities. Methodical approaches for estimation of an exhibition and advertising activity and promotion of its employees are specified.Purpose of the article: It is the purpose of this article to analyze and further develop the methodological principles for assessing the efficiency of advertising and exhibition activities.Main findings: The results of the work involve evaluation of the effect of advertising and the share of the impact of advertising in increased revenue from the sale of products. A corresponding proportion of this impact was determined based on consumer inquiries. We propose an index of exhibition and trade fair performance, calculated based on two components: how many times a specific company participated in such events, and how the company was presented at relevant exhibition and fairs. Indices of the cost of advertising and promotion of certain products were provided as well. The present research is a novel approach that consists first in proving that the sales increase effect should not be assigned to advertising only, and second, determining the factors that influence consumer preferences and their share in the total value effect. Moreover, the proposed index of influence of exhibition and trade fair performance results depending on the selected factors is innovative as well. The practical importance of the research results involves a more accurate calculation of the effect caused by activities performed and, consequently, an increase in the efficiency of the business entities.

The phenomenon of outdoor advertising is particularly worrying in protected areas due to the limitation and depreciation of natural and landscape assets. The paper aims to identify and compare legal provisions concerning the advertising policy in relation to naturally and visually precious areas in Poland and Slovakia. Moreover, it determines the scale of visual pollution in a protected area – trends in the location, size, form and influence on the surroundings and perception. In both analysed countries there are regulations that would not bring the desired effects regarding the advertising policy. Advertisement devices are present in settlements and at significant road points, entrances to facilities connected with tourism. A point of concern is that they are frequently placed in the most precious landscape areas.

Cities are unimaginable without outdoor advertising, and outdoor advertising, sometimes known as out-ofhome advertising, is unimaginable without cities. However, this relationship is evolving due to the inevitable need today to take sustainability into account. As is becoming clearer every day, our planet is finite and it is up to us to bring hope to our present and our future. Sustainability consists of three aspects: social, economic and environmental. In this article, we take as its starting point the meaning of sustainability in relation to the city and outdoor advertising. The studies consulted confirm that outdoor advertising companies must work towards this sustainability to improve their relations with citizens, through an effort that also involves generating initiatives that come from all the actors involved in the outdoor activities at cities. In this research, we have collected the state of art about this question, and we also have analysed the opinion of one of the agents involved in integrating sustainability into the outdoor advertising activity, the exclusive outdoor advertising firms. We have investigated what they understand by sustainability and analysed whether their strategies are evolving in the same way as the meaning and significance of this term for the city and its citizens.

The article puts forward the thesis that outdoor advertising is an important element that enriches college recruitment campaigns if it meets certain conditions. The basic factors determining the effectiveness of outdoor is the conciseness and simplicity of the message, the creation taking into account the proper character of the advertisement and referring to the emotions of the recipient, the composition based on the appropriate arrangement of elements, intriguing advertising text forcing the recipient to think, integrate outdoor communication with the internet transmission and the correct location of the advertising medium. The subject of outdoor advertising and its impact on candidates for studies is omitted in the literature on marketing activities of tertiare education institutions. Therefore, it was attempted to fill the cognitive gap by referring to foreign scientific research and examples of outdoor applications by universities in the United States of America and Great Britain. Also described are outdoor campaigns of the SWPS University, which cooperates with the Cityboard Media Institute in the field of external advertising research. In order to analyze outdoor polish universities, the article uses part of the photographic material collected by the author, and reflects on the basis of their own observations and in-depth interviews with employees of Marketing Departments of selected universities.

W artykule postawiono tezę, że reklama zewnętrzna stanowi ważny element wzmacniający kampanie rekrutacyjne szkół wyższych jeżeli spełnia określone warunki. Podstawowymi czynnikami determinującymi skuteczność outdooru jest zwięzłość i prostota komunikatu, kreacja uwzględniająca właściwego bohatera reklamy i odwołująca się do emocji odbiorcy, kompozycja oparta na odpowiednim rozmieszczeniu elementów, intrygujący tekst reklamowy zmuszający odbiorcę do myślenia, zintegrowanie komunikatu outdoorowego z przekazem internetowym oraz właściwa lokalizacja nośnika reklamowego. Tematyka reklamy zewnętrznej i jej oddziaływania na kandydatów na studia jest pomijana w literaturze dotyczącej działań marketingowych szkół wyższych. W związku z tym starano się wypełnić lukę poznawczą, odwołując się do zagranicznych badań naukowych oraz przykładów zastosowań outdooru przez uczelnie w Stanach Zjednoczonych i Wielkiej Brytanii. Opisano także kampanie outdoorowe Uniwersytetu SWPS, który współpracuje z Instytutem Cityboard Media w zakresie badań dotyczących reklamy zewnętrznej. W celu analizy outdooru polskich uczelni, w artykule wykorzystano część materiału fotograficznego zgromadzonego przez autorkę, a także zawarto refleksje na podstawie własnych obserwacji oraz pogłębionych wywiadów z pracownikami Działów Marketingu wybranych szkół wyższych.
