The article contains a multi-dimensional analysis of the activity of the Democratic Left Alliance (Sojusz Lewicy Demokratycznej, SLD) on the Internet during the parliamentary elections campaign in 2011. The scope of observation and analysis of the SLD’s activity allows to reconstruct and evaluate patterns of political culture in the following three dimensions: 1) programme offer dimension – including the scope and content of the election platform, 2) communicational and social dimension – focusing on the types and kinds of rhetorical expression, attitudes towards competitors, political opponents, and the electorate, and 3) technical dimension – encompassing aesthetics generated by the SLD’s web content and it’s compliance with the Internet political culture. Monitoring of all online channels of communication in the Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 were included into consideration: web sites, discussion forums, newsletters, social media profiles, blogs and microblogs.

The article concerns the analysis of mechanisms of functioning of the party system and political market. The main problem, which is analyzed in the text, is the answer to the question to what extent the parties’ relationships are dependent on market factors, and to what extent they are autonomous and independent from the processes taking place in the market. Market factors are: the level of the political awareness of electors, their loyalty and the stability of election behaviours as well as character of media particularly their programme and political profile. However amongst factors from beyond market, the author focuses on the political tradition, the ideological identification of the party and the attitude of parties’ leaders.

The article focuses on analysis and evaluation of the manifestations of the internet political culture of the Polish Peasant Party in three dimensions: 1) content dimension, 2) socio-communicational dimension and 3) technical dimension. The first of these dimensions analyzes the content and form of the PSL election programme, and rates its availability on the Internet. With regard to the sociocommunicational dimension which is a key variable of the Internet electoral marketing following issues were examined: the types and nature of the arguments used by the PSL in the Internet discourse, the attitudes of PSL to the electorate and to other participants in the electoral game, the coherence of forms in which these messages are manifested. Technical dimension, in turn, relates to the accuracy of information and compliance of Web standards of PSL political culture: the ability and the adequacy of cultural codes adopted by surfers. The article ends with the synthesis encompassing evaluation of all the dimensions of political culture of PSL on the Internet.

The article attempts to analyze Welsh party system from the point of view of existing typologies. Its institutionalization began with the establishment of the National Assembly of Wales and the Welsh government in 1997. The elections to the Welsh parliament took place so far four times in 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011. The origins of the Welsh party system could be found in the elections to the House of Commons and therefore in many aspects it resembles the British party system with the dominant role of the Labour Party and the Conservative Party. On the other hand it has its own characteristics.

The aim of the article is to analyze the process of a cabinet coalition formation in a double non-standard situation: a) in the Westminster-model state (New Zealand), in which until 1996 single-party cabinets dominated and coalition bargaining was arranged very rarely; b) in a context of negotiations conducted simultaneously by a pivotal party with a high potential for political blackmail towards two main potential coalition partners. The main research question is about similarities and differences between Westminster and classical processes of government coalition formation, during which the formateur negotiates with another party or parties the coalition agreement. The main research method used in the analysis is a case study. The article was extended to sketch the institutional context and some elements of historical analysis (in those points where the historical background had an impact on the analysed coalition).

The institutionalisation of party system describes the degree to which politics are rooted in the competition between different political parties. The aim of this article is to analyse the above mentioned rooting on one of the levels of research – during parliamentary elections in Poland – when the parties’ commitment and activity is the most visible and strong. We will try to answer the question whether our political system is institutionalised and if it is, to what degree. We will also try to discuss whether it can be defined as a consolidated party system.
