The text aims to present the events of the Summer School for Young Pedagogues, which was organized for the twenty-eighth time under the auspices of the Committee of Pedagogical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The scientific director of the Summer School for over twenty years has been professor Maria Dudzikowa. The host of the School was the Institute of Education of the Catholic University of Lublin, and the main theme was: “Let me tell you about my passion using words, images, sounds”. The essence of the School is to support and stimulate the scientific development of young pedagogues, create space for meetings enabling integration of academics, and strengthen the bonds between generations.
The article presents the developmental approach to the Sternberg’s theory which introduces love as the trilayers phenomenon. This approach enables the adoption of a developmental perspective to understand the experience of love. Assuming that individuals develop from biological to social being, the article describes biological, psychological and sociocultural factors that influence three aspects of love. The article also describes interactions between this aspects. This layered approach allows understanding of the infl uence of conation, emotional and cognitive processes on three love layers: intimacy, passion, and commitment. The metaphor of layers helps to understand the diffi culties in forming intimate relationships.
Passion may be dened as a particular interest in something/somebody, a liking towards a given object (at times a personied one). It is a person’s disposition leading to selffulllment and creative fruition and engagement into a chosen area of activity. It is a driving force of human activity, as well as motivation and impulse towards the particular transgression within its limits. It is a valid factor in a personal change and altering of the world around us, usually giving the feeling of satisfaction and bringing sense to the human life (though sometimes it might become a source of suwering and sacrice as well). In the following article, the author analyses passion as a unique human experience. The text is structured by a sequence of questions which aim to reect on the given theme. Firstly, the author asks: What exactly is passion? What is its essence? What are its mechanism and sources? Secondly, she inquires: What are musical interests and how do they display themselves? What is their role and function? And thirdly, she attempts to determine how are the passions of Alle Choir members’ dened/determined and realised? e nal part of the article presents the results of the research study conducted to dene passion in its empirical image, based on the example of Alle Choir.
The paper describes passion, which depending on the context, may motivate entrepreneurial leaders not only to found an organization, but also to grow and expand their ventures. It should also be noted that there is also the dark side of passion dominated by greed and hubris, which may result in counterproductive outcomes.
The aim of the article is to respond to the question whether the subject of the story can exclude a homoerotic passion that he is possessed by. Jerzy Andrzejewski’s short story Niby gaj is used here to prove that a mechanism of self¬ exclusion is an illusion and it turns into its own reverse. The mechanism of exclusion helps the hero of the story to create a web made of attachments and dependencies. Michał (the adored object) embodies such a set of connections and acts as a lover who in this case turns against his antagonist.
The paper is focused on the mystery of the passion of Jesus Christ performed in Budzewo, in the Most Sacred Trinity Parish of Budry, in 2002-2011. The undertaken considerations start with elucidating the meaning of mystery, then present the Lord’s Passion in Budzewo, which is still inspiring for many artists. The author shows that the mystery contains not only informative power, but also that of education.
The aim of the article is firstly to illustrate various meanings of the category of ‘passion’ which function in the public educational discourse (as a key idea of initiative, educational undergoing). Secondly, it depicts an attempt to systematise different designatum of ‘passion’ concept, and in consequence to indicate philosophical concepts of passion and psychological concepts elaborated on the basis of systematically conducted empirical researches on human’s passion mechanisms (i.a the dualistic model of passion according to R.J. Vallerand; romantic concept of passion).
In my paper, I analyse passion in the context of lifelong human development. The main concern is whether passion has to be one and steady, or whether it is possible to have various passions in life, or even many different passions at the same time? To answer my question, I refer myself to the psychology of human development and the psychology of interests, as well as to Robert J. Vallerand’s dualistic model of passion.
The Polish version of the article was published in “Roczniki Humanistyczne,” vol. 61 (2013), issue 4. In the Gospels relating the passion of Christ, there is no description of the act of nailing Him to the cross, but there are clearly other biblical testimonies that nails were used for the crucifixion. In many representations, parallel to the nailing of the members of Christ to the cross or raising it with His body, we find placed alongside it, the scene of hammering iron with hammers by Tubal-Kain for the purpose of drawing out the appropriate tones. He hits on the anvil, while Jabal makes a notation of the tones. With this type of illustration, the sound of the hammers during the crucifixion of Christ meets with the sound of the hammers hitting the anvil. Hence, painting and music meet in the iconography of the crucifixion of Christ. It was a sort of Concordia Novi et Veteris Testamenti. In showing this prefiguration, there is also a going back to the history of Pythagoras. It was also an example for the functioning in the Middle Ages, and still later in the Renaissance, of the formulation of the Concordia divi Moysi et divini Platonis.
Using a simple narrative technique, Panaït Istrati is an excellent painter of the Balkans and, above all, he is the friendship seeker. Our study starts from an interrogation: What makes the main character, Adrien Zograffi, wander from one place to another? Is there his taste of adventure or any ideal? The two parts of the work describe several important moments from the volume The Youth of Adrien Zograffi, where Romanians, Greeks and other nations from a Romanian town near the Danube share their happiness and their sadness.
The author presents one of the main topics in Irena Kamieńska’s documentary oeuvre — the problems of women. In the article she discusses two kinds of female portraits created by the director — strong and full of enthusiasm (Good Morning, Children, Next Point on the Agenda), and helpless, without any hope (Workers; Day After Day). Of crucial importance is the sociological-historical context, referred to by the author, which makes it possible to take a broader view on the conditions in which the protagonists of Kamieńska’s documentaries lived. In addition, the author discusses the director’s attitude to her protagonists.
St. Ignatius and St. Polycarp are the most famous names associated with the early church, Bishops and one of the apostolic fathers. In Ignatius’s letters the Cross is incorporated in a developed metaphor. The deeper meaning of this metaphor is : the instrument of the Redemption is the Cross. For him the Cross is the synthesis of Salvation. The Cross is considered as the tree of Life with its branches and fruits. In the same way as Ignatius, Polycarp, stresses the reality of Christ’s incarnation and passion.
Philosophy is an inquiry and way of life. Is it possible to apply this formula to aes-thetics? There is no doubt that aesthetics is always an investigation, a questioning. However, is it possible to speak about aesthetics as a way of life, too? To answer this question, it is necessary to understand what happens in aesthetic theory today, or rather, what is contemporary aesthetics of today.
In this paper the author compares the concept of a Noh play, Matsukaze, with a Slovak altar painting from Košice Cathedral. The article uses Japanese Noh, where stage continuity has been preserved up until the present day, to reconstruct European medieval stage practices reflected in 15th century painting. Referring to the platonic tradition, the second speech represents a corrective to the first, thus legitimizing a sense of passion in the process leading to catharsis, or enlightenment.
Objectives. The research aimed to examine the relationship between the different types of adult attachment (secure type, anxious and avoidant type) and relationship satisfaction. Also examined relationship between satisfaction and intimacy, commitment and passion. Sample and setting. The research sample consisted of 120 respondents, university students aged 18 to 26 years (M = 22.54, SD = 1.71). The sample consisted of 97 women and 23 men. Hypotheses. It was hypothesized that a secure adult attachment would be positively related to relationship satisfaction. On the contrary, in the case of anxious and avoidant adult attachment a negative attitude towards relationship satisfaction were assumed. It was hypothesized that intimacy, commitment and passion would be positively related to relationship satisfaction. Statistical analysis. Multiple linear hierarchical regression (stepwise method) was performed to verify the relations between the different types of adult attachment, intimacy, commitment, passion and relationship satisfaction. Results. The research confirmed the relationship between adult attachment and relationship satisfaction, which was one of the main findings. Respondents who showed a secure type of adult attachment were more satisfied in a relationship than those who showed anxious or avoidant behavior. Another important finding was the relation between the love component – intimacy and couple relationship satisfaction. Study limitation. The fact that data were obtained from only one of the partners can be considered as a possible limitation of the study.
The article is a new edition of Karta Rogawskiego, a forgotten 15th century work written in the Polish language. The previous edition, available only in transliteration, comes from 1911. It is a single parchment sheet torn from a different code and then used as a cover, now partly illegible. The content revolves around a scene of Jesus being interrogated by Pontius Pilate, who delivers judgement. The article provides a new transliteration as well as transcription; photographs of the the manuscript have also been attached.
The concept of passion is not without reason at the center of interest of theoreticians of contemporary psychology. The lifestyle imposed on the human by world economies, aiming at increasing industrialization and uniformization , contributes to the marginalization of citizens and, consequently, to the development of stress factors significantly affecting human health and life. Therefore, it becomes necessary to awaken in the society the awareness of an urgent need to find a balance between the many aspects of personality and other aspects of self-development , among which an important role is played by the process of forming one`s own personality by discovering individual interests , which are defined in the article by the term passion. The responsibility for arousing curiosity about the world, which is the foundation of the development of passion, rests primarily on the shoulders of educators. The effect of the sustainable development of the human personality completed in the education process, should be the compliance of the undertaken professional a work with the individual`s predispositions and interests, which is finalized in the successful functioning of the entire society, in the hands of experts - enthusiasts. Whether young people find their own path, despite the difficulties they face during their turbulent adolescence, largely depends on the quality of their relationship with educators. The foundation of arousing deep interest in young people is the understanding of the importance of the processes taking place in human minds and an ability of teachers to think creatively and innovatively. It is also important to emphasize that the identity formed during the difficult years of adolescence, an inseparable element of which is creation the human interests, has a significant impact on the further stages of an individual`s development. A favorable conclusion of the process of forming an adolescent`s identity, determines the harmony of his further development. Having the ability to admire the world becomes one of the guarantors of the harmonious development of the personality from the first years until the fall of life.
The article includes considerations on different version of lifelong learning in contemporary culture. Four approaches are analysed. The first one is classical, connected mostly with adult education,. In the second, lifelong learning is incorporated in neoliberal vision of man and society and is treated as a way of permanent change of one’s knowledge and skills to be competitive in a job market. Third approach relates to the role of popular culture in shaping man’s identity by developing ability to accept and quickly forget enormous numer of stimulus from mass media and consumption area. The core of last approach includes the conviction that just man’s passions are the best and deepest drive for permanent personal growth.
The aim of the article is to analyse various contexts of passion perceived as an important com- ponent of researcher’s identity. First, passion is confronted with the concept if rationality which dominates the university thinking about research. Second, passion is considered in relations to in- trinsic and extrinsic motivation. Next, the author concentrates attention on factors which limit the passion development: present commercialization of research as well as their permanent indexation and evaluation, re-locating the researcher’s energy on permanent reporting and detailed juridization of academic reality. At the end the possibility of passion in contemporary research is optimistically confirmed by the idea of academic community and academic freedom.
