The use of machines with artificial intelligence in different areas of life and the trend to develop a „homunculus“ makes ethical rating necessary. Starting with early rules of behavior and moral norms, traditions in the occidental ethic history will be presented and faced with the question, whether they can be of any help to understand artificial intelligence, and which conclusions should be considered while developing and using machines with (strong) artifical intelligence by individuals, states, and finally, the whole world.

The article deals with the question of the importance of the so-called social sins in the contemporary consciousness of the faithful, their sense of responsibility for personal sins which have serious social consequences, as well as with confessing those sins during the sacrament of reconciliation. The new situations of sins are being analysed, particularly those emerging from current transformations of the socio-economic and cultural spheres of life.

The article is carried out a thorough, exegetical and theological analysis of the theme “the heart of Pharaoh”, which repeatedly appears in the context of Exodus 3–14. In the author’s opinion it is crucial to understand the theological message contained in this narration. The relationship between man’s free will and sovereign will of the Lord – the God of Israel, though present in the background of the story, is not a main theme of consideration. The aim of the biblical authors was rather to show that how God operates within the history and how His action relates to the historical experience of Israel in contact with the great powers of this world. This “political theology” also contains an instruction directed to individuals. Each “stubborn” human heart, sooner or later, will bring negative consequences for those who do not read in time marks given to him by God and for those who wishes to oppose His will.

The world is focused on countering climate change to guarantee our survival. But as our planet burns up, we are burning out. The costs of mental health disorders dwarf those of climate change and yet do not get commensurate attention from global leaders. Health care providers and organizations have acted first but need support of the financial markets and public decision-makers. In this paper, we argue that the economic and social toll of mental health and wellbeing issues deserve equal attention from business and public leaders because Human Sustainability is as important as Environmental Sustainability for our ability to endure and thrive as a species in harmony with others

In the effort to address the persistent organ shortage it is sometimes suggested that we should incentivize people to sign up as organ donors. One way of doing so is to give priority in the allocation of organs to those who are themselves registered as donors. Israel introduced such a scheme recently and the preliminary reports indicate increased donation rates. How should we evaluate such initiatives from an ethical perspective? Luck egalitarianism, a responsibility-sensitive approach to distributive justice, provides one possible justification: Those who decide against being organ donors limit the health care resources available to others. As such, a priority rule can be justified by a luck egalitarian approach to distributive justice. Furthermore, a priority rule inspired by luck egalitarianism is well equipped to avoid prominent criticisms of such a procurement system. Luck egalitarianism provides us with reaons to exempt people who are not responsible for their inability to donate from receiving lower priority, provide sufficient information about donation, and mitigate social and natural circumstances affecting people’s choice to donate.

The article discusses Polish law regulations from the years 1998–2007 designed as a basis for the process of post-communist lustration. The author analyses several acts of law to bring to the fore the assumed aims of the lustration process, its suggested scope, procedures and forms of penalization. The author’s objective is to reveal the axiological foundations of the project of lustration. In the course of his analysis the author points to the discrepancies between sentences prescribed in the lustration acts and the assumed faults of individuals. One of the striking examples of such discrepancy was the article concerning the penalization of individuals for submitting false lustration statement or for a denial to submit it. The author argues that the logic of this law was based on shifting responsibility for the evils of the former political system onto individuals who happened to live in this system and participated in it to various degrees. According to the author lustration based on a state-imposed “test of morality” bears resemblance with totalitarian systems in its attempt to invade an internal sphere of morality. The state orders to perform an action which exclusively and directly aims at realization of a strictly internal moral value, a value based on conformity between a statement and convictions, and simultaneously the state appoints itself as someone determining the content of these convictions and someone who observes and judges realization of this moral value.

Artykuł przedstawia polskie regulacje prawne z lat 1998-2007 będące podstawą lustracji. Analizuje szereg aktów prawnych prezentując zakładane cele lustracji, jej zakres, procedury i przewidywane sankcje karne (administracyjne).
