The basic aim of the paper is an attempt at answering the question: which of the above mentioned ways – if any – leads to the final explanation of the essence of sport?
This paper aims to display the most significant feature of Proust’s thinking of time consisting in a specific connection between the time as a concrete lived quality and the extra-temporal qualitative difference or essence. The time in its most concrete realizations, as Proust makes it clear, is always a particular kind of „emanation“ of the extra-temporal reality, which is likewise the final goal of the quest of the hero and the source of the creative process manifested in the novel. This nontemporal essence itself however remains hidden up to the very end of the novel.
