Phonic gestures are a communication tool as well as a regulator of social relationships and their meaning depends on the intentions of the sender, which is understood in a particular consituation. Phonic gestures may take on various forms: non-lexical or more lingual, they may also play many roles in speech therapy, also with kindergarten-age children. Not only do they complement the meaning of words, but also emphasise or explain the meaning of a verbal statement, they provide structure for the course of interaction and occasionally become an equivalent of the whole statement. The analysis of sonic mimic movements enables identification of emotions and moods that accompany the meeting of speech therapy subjects, it determines the possibility of regulating the course of a conversation and adjusting to the situation, it also influences the quality of personal relationships in interactions.

Gesty foniczne stanowią narzędzie komunikacji i regulatora stosunków społecznych, ich znaczenie zależy od intencji nadawcy, odczytywanej w określonej konsytuacji. Gesty foniczne mogą przyjmować różne formy: niezleksykalizowane lub bardziej ujęzykowione i pełnić wiele funkcji w postępowaniu logopedycznym, również z dziećmi w wieku przedszkolnym. Nie tylko dopełniają znaczenie słów, podkreślają lub wyjaśniają znaczenie przekazu werbalnego, strukturyzują przebieg interakcji, ale czasami stają się ekwiwalentem całego komunikatu. Analiza dźwiękowych ruchów mimicznych ułatwia identyfikację uczuć i nastrojów, jakie towarzyszą spotkaniu podmiotów logopedycznych, określa możliwość regulowania przebiegu rozmowy i dostosowania się do sytuacji, a także wpływa na jakość stosunków międzyludzkich w interakcji.
