Procreative responsibility includes a conscious, competent and well prepared conception of a child, taken in the most appropriate time and in freedom and care of the child's health as well as proper conditions for the development. The responsibility involves the awareness women's and men's procreative capabilities, the ability to recognize fertile and infertile days and keeping prudence in sexual behaviour and procreative intentions. A manifestation of procreative responsibility is planning fertility with consideration for health, material, residential, occupational; moral and religious context of family planning as well as present social and demographical situation. It is also a positive attitude towards parenthood and the readiness for accepting a child and engaging in preconception and prenatal care. Personal dignity of human being and cognitive skills of mature adults induce to setting requirements for responsible human procreation.

Odpowiedzialność prokreacyjna obejmuje świadome, kompetentne, przygotowane, podjęte w wolności i w jak najwłaściwszym czasie poczęcie dziecka oraz troskę o jego zdrowie i odpowiednie warunki rozwoju. Odpowiedzialność ta wiąże się ze świadomością kobiecej i męskiej zdolności prokreacyjnej, umiejętnością rozpoznawania dni płodnych i niepłodnych oraz roztropnością w dziedzinie zachowań seksualnych i przekazywaniem życia. Wyrazem odpowiedzialności prokreacyjnej jest planowanie dzietności z uwzględnieniem własnej sytuacji zdrowotnej, materialnej, mieszkaniowej, zawodowej, moralnego i religijnego kontekstu planowania rodziny, jak również aktualnej sytuacji społecznej i demograficznej. To także pozytywne nastawienie do rodzicielstwa i gotowość przyjęcia dziecka oraz zaangażowanie w opiekę prekoncepcyjną i prenatalną. Osobowa godność człowieka, potrzeby dziecka i społeczeństwa oraz umiejętności poznawcze dojrzałych osób dorosłych skłaniają do postawienia wymagań odpowiedzialnego przekazywania życia.

This paper investigates the phenomenon of “sexual revolution” in Mainland China, in other words changes in sexual attitudes and interpersonal relationships among Chinese people after 1979. Until the end of the Mao era strict norms prevailed, with sex outside marriage widely forbidden and strongly frown upon. Authors aim to present historical and cultural conditioning of China’s society that paved the way towards changes in sexual behaviors and practices. In order to further our understanding of the changing nature of sexual behaviors and attitudes, this article examines data obtained from research, surveys and interviews conducted among Chinese in different age groups and place of residence (urban and rural) in Mainland China. Premarital sex, extramarital relationships, mating strategies and sex work practices are analysed. Based on up-to date articles and scientific evidence authors argue than the Single Child Policy was one of the factors that contributed to “sexual revolution” and further, to enormous success of sexual products on the local e-market. The influence of individualist values and the changing cultural norms pertaining to sexual behaviors and mating practices are discussed.

The article deals with a principled aspect of responsible parenthood, the decision to choose natural family planning as a method of birth control within the marital dialogue, and its consistent implementation through parental attitudes. The analysis of the research problem proceeds via four stages. First, the foreground lays out the solid theological, biblical and anthropological foundations of responsible parenthood. The second stage explores the multiple contexts of parental decisions, from the perspective of the determinants of marital dialogue. Next follows a presentation of the theological, ethical and psychological values of the natural family planning methods. Finally, an attempt is made to specify the essence of the parental decision, which implies the use of natural methods of birth control by the spouses. The hermeneutic key linking all the theological analysis of the article has been the concept of a personal gift on the part of the spouses. The conclusions we have formulated encompass the many dimensions – ethical, anthropological, theological, charismatic, and cultic-liturgical – of a married couple’s decision regarding a family planning strategy.

Artykuł traktuje o pryncypialnym aspekcie odpowiedzialnego rodzicielstwa, za który uznaje się podjęcie w dialogu małżeńskim i konsekwentną realizację w postawach rodzicielskich decyzji o wyborze naturalnego planowania rodziny jako metody regulacji poczęć. Analiza problemu badawczego została rozłożona na cztery etapy. Najpierw przedstawiono podstawy teologiczne, biblijne i antropologiczne odpowiedzialnego rodzicielstwa. Na drugim etapie ukazano wielorakie konteksty decyzji rodzicielskiej z perspektywy uwarunkowań dialogu małżeńskiego. W dalszej części przedłożono walory teologiczne, etyczne i psychologiczne metod naturalnego planowania rodziny. Finalnie podjęto próbę sprecyzowania istoty decyzji rodzicielskiej, która implikuje stosowanie przez małżonków naturalnych metod regulacji poczęć. Kluczem hermeneutycznym, spinającym całość analiz teologicznych pracy, stała się kategoria daru osobowego małżonków. W kontekście sformułowanych wniosków ukazano etyczny, antropologiczny, teologiczny, charyzmatyczny i kultyczno-liturgiczny wymiar decyzji rodzicielskiej określającej strategię planowania rodziny przez małżonków.

Artykuł podejmuje problem odpowiedzialnego rodzicielstwa w perspektywie zmieniających się czasów i poglądów na wychowanie. Przeanalizowano w nim pojęcie odpowiedzialnego rodzicielstwa w świetle świadomego poczęcia dziecka oraz procesu wychowania. Ukazano również trudności, na które narażony jest współczesny rodzic. Warto zwrócić uwagę na rozważania angielskich naukowców, którzy wskazują na komponenty dobrego rodzicielstwa wchodzące w skład emocjonalnych potrzeb dziecka. W tekście zaprezentowano również czynniki zagrażające postawie odpowiedzialnego rodzicielstwa. Do najważniejszych zostały zaliczone: rozwody i separacja rodziców, bezrobocie, ubóstwo, konflikty małżeńskie. Czynniki zagrażające odpowiedzialnemu rodzicielstwu zaburzają funkcjonowanie i strukturę rodziny, co bardzo negatywnie wpływa na rozwój dziecka. Zatem w odniesieniu do zmian zachodzących w społeczeństwie odpowiedzialne rodzicielstwo jest wyzwaniem i zadaniem.

The article addresses the problem of responsible parenting in the perspective of changing times and views on upbringing. It analyzed the concept of responsible parenthood in the light of the conscious conception of a child and the process of education. It also shows the difficulties that a modern parent is exposed to. It is worth paying attention to the considerations of English scientists who point to the components of good parenthood that are part of the emotional needs of the child. The text also presents factors threatening the attitude of responsible parenthood. The most important were: divorces and separation of parents, unemployment, poverty, marital conflicts. Factors threatening responsible parenthood disturb the functioning and structure of the family, which has a negative impact on the child’s development. So in relation to changes in society, responsible parenthood is a challenge and a task.

Frozen future – ethical questions of social egg freezing

This paper aims at making a critical judgment about the practice of social egg freezing. Most papers on the ethical issues of oocyte cryopreservation for non-medical reasons seem to welcome the wide range application of the new fast freezing technology. This paper aims to challenge some of the assumptions used to justify this new practice. It does so by viewing partnership and parenthood in terms of individual biographies which need careful planning in our modern risk societies. Papers in favour of social egg freezing argue that it could serve as a tool to expand reproductive autonomy of women, and also as a means promoting gender equality. They also reason that it promoted a responsible planning of biographies, since it enabled women to postpone important decisions concerning reproductive issues or partnership. As a response I will try to show the inadequateness of these arguments by analysing the logic behind social egg freezing, and also the desires and misconceptions the method is associated with.

Celem referatu jest krytyczny osąd stosowania zamrażania jajeczek z przyczyn społecznych. Większość prac na temat kwestii etycznych związanych z zamrażaniem jajeczek z przyczyn niemedycznych wydaje się zachęcać do szerokiego zastosowania nowej technologii szybko mrożącej. Praca ta ma na celu zakwestionować pewne założenia stosowane, by uzasadnić tę nową praktykę. Dokonuje się tego poprzez przegląd partnerstwa i rodzicielstwa w kategoriach indywidualnych biografii, które wymagają uważnego planowania w naszych współczesnych ryzykownych społeczeństwach. Prace opowiadające się za zamrożeniem jajeczek z przyczyn społecznych dowodzą, że może ono służyć jako narzędzie do rozszerzenia autonomii reprodukcyjnej kobiet, a także jako środek promujący równość genderową. Wnioskują też, że sprzyja odpowiedzialnemu planowaniu życia, gdyż umożliwia kobietom odłożenie decyzji dotyczących kwestii reprodukcji czy partnerstwa. W odpowiedzi Autor stara się pokazać nieadekwatność tych argumentów poprzez przeanalizowanie logiki ukrytej za zamrażaniem jajeczek z przyczyn społecznych, a także pragnienia i nieporozumienia, z jakimi metoda ta jest związana.
