Zamojszczyzna jest regionem, który obejmuje obszar terytorialnie pokrywający się z granicami województwa zamojskiego w latach 1975-1998. Miejscowości leżące na tym terenie, podobnie jak w przeszłości, tak i obecnie, mimo zachodzących zmian administracyjno-politycznych, są nadal związane pod względem politycznym, kulturalno-oświatowym i gospodarczym z Zamościem. Obszar Zamojszczyzny obejmuje część Kotliny Sandomierskiej, fragment Roztocza, część Wyżyny Zachodnio-Wołyńskiej, Kotliny Pobuża i Wyżyny Lubelskiej. Obszary te są zróżnicowane pod względem fizjograficznym. Występują tu duże deniwelacje terenu, różnorodna pokrywa roślinna i glebowa oraz przyjazne uprawianiu turystyki warunki klimatyczne. Te cechy środowiska sprawiają, że region jest postrzegany przez odwiedzających jako atrakcyjny, o dużych potencjalnych możliwościach rozwoju.

There is a variety of plant cover, soil and climatic conditions and these features make this region’s environment attractive for tourists.

Zamość region covers territorially the area of Zamość region from 1975-1998. Despite the administrative and political changes villages lying on that area are still related in the political, cultural, economic and educational way with Zamość. Zamość area includes the following parts: Sandomierz Valley, Roztocze, Highlands of Western Volhynia, Pobuże and Lublin Upland. These areas are in physiographic sense very diverse. As a result of a high degree of natural environment transformation in the neighbourhood of Szadek the variety of forms of nature protection is rather limited in this area. There is a nature reserve 'Jamno' with an area of 22.56 ha established in 1959 to protect the fir and oak forest at the northerly limit of the area where the fir-tree is found. In old manor and village parks there are some very old trees – the register of nature monuments within the communes lists 24 such trees. There also are some areas of plants with protected status – about 45 species of plants designated as rare or threatened with extinction. Preservation of the natural environment in the commune requires long-range action, including both legal regulation and promotion of ecological awareness.
