Inkluzja społeczna osób z niepełnosprawnością intelektualną wydaje się być wyzwaniem dla współczesności. Dzieci ze specjalnymi potrzebami mają zagwarantowaną opiekę już od momentu wykrycia niepełnosprawności, a oferowana im pomoc obejmuje wsparcie edukacyjno-terapeutyczne do czasu zakończenia obowiązku nauki. Jednak osoby kończące edukację i wchodzące w dorosłość nie zawsze mogą liczyć na pełne wsparcie i włączenie w społeczność lokalną, szczególnie w zakresie wykonywania zadań społeczno-zawodowych. W niniejszym artykule poruszono kwestię inkluzji społecznej dorosłych osób z niepełnosprawnością intelektualną oraz zwrócono uwagę na znaczenie wsparcia społecznego dla ich aktywizacji zawodowej i społecznej.

It seems that social inclusion for mentally handicapped people is one of challenges for modern society. Handicapped children can count on protection from the moment of diagnosis. They are provided with education and therapy until the end of compulsory education. However, once they finish their schools and begin adult life they are often not included in the local society particularly in terms of performing the socio-professional tasks. The article talks about the social inclusion of mentally handicapped adult people. Moreover it has been emphasised that the social support is significant for professional and social elicitation.
