Celem artykułu było zbadanie wpływu wybranych czynników pozaekonomicznych na zróżnicowanie wielkości popytu turystycznego wśród państw Unii Europejskiej w podziale na turystykę krajową i wyjazdową. Dodatkowym celem pracy była analiza wpływu omawianych determinant popytu na wybór pomiędzy turystyką krajową a wyjazdową. Przeprowadzona analiza pozwala na sformułowanie wielu wniosków dotyczących wpływu geograficznych i społecznych determinant popytu turystycznego w krajach Unii Europejskiej.

The article was thought to study the influence of the selected non-economic factors on the diversity of the tourism demand in the countries of the European Union, both in the domestic and outbound tourism. The additional aim of the thesis was to analyze the influence of the discussed non-economic determinants of demand on choosing between domestic and outbound tourism. Basing on the analysis it’s possible to arrive at numerous conclusions.

Celem artykułu była klasyfikacja państw Unii Europejskiej ze względu na poziom i strukturę popytu turystycznego. Analiza została przeprowadzona dla danych z roku 2011 pochodzących z bazy danych Eurostat. Dotyczyła czterech mierników popytu turystycznego: uczestnictwa w podróżach, liczby podróży, liczby noclegów i wydatków ponoszonych na podróże. Wszystkie mierniki rozważane były w podziale na turystykę krajową i wyjazdową. W wyniku badania państwa UE zostały podzielone na cztery grupy.

The purpose of the article was the classification of the European Union countries due to the level and structure of tourism demand. The analysis was conducted based on data from Eurostat for 2011. Four measures of tourism demand were examined: participation in tourism travels, number of trips, number of nights and tourism expenditures. All measures were divided into domestic and outbound tourism. Finally, author created four groups for the European Union countries.
