The paper investigates changes in today aesthetics. It is demonstrated that the ongoing transformation of traditional aesthetics into aisthesis with its broader scope of influence calls for a review of to-date methodology in aesthetical research. Historical doxography, mere accounts of the past—even relating the most coherent and complete developments and events—hardly (if at all) harmonise with the new approach to aesthetics, and could well distort and weaken it. The enlargement of the subject-matter of aesthetics and the clash between aesthetics and the aporias of the modern approach to history allow both fields to experience modernity to a rather broad degree; both refer to aesthetics.
The goal of this study is to deal with three reasons explaining the importance and necessity of moral education – not just in schools but in general. The research question is: Why do we need moral education? Each subchapter of this study will provide answers or grounds from which the necessity of moral education will be deduced, and which I intend to expose in this study. They apply to three particular areas: 1) the nature of the human being as a moral being, 2) the nature of moral reality itself, and 3) the specific nature of the postmodern situation in which we recognize the need for moral formation. The analysis of the three phenomena provides an argument for traditional moral realism which not only grounds any moral education but also makes it possible. Moral education proves to be not merely necessary but also philosophically legitimate.
Modernity in the West had, among other things, the effect of encouraging people to distance themselves, especially from the more cultivated classes, from ecclesiastical structures, at first, and then from the Christian religion itself. This distancing had incidence on individualism, which also led to a modern vision of man and society. This paper discusses the main philosophical, political and cultural motives that directly influenced, especially after the French Revolution, the accelerated process of secularization. This process led to the skeptical and post-metaphysical attitude of the post-modernity of the 20th century. Unlike previous ones, it was a century in which atheism was not an attitude of few individuals among the intellectuals but it spread also to large groups of citizens. However, since the last two decades of the 20th century and the first decades of the 21st, some changes can be perceived that could indicate a return of interest towards religion in the West.
Civic culture can be understood as the orientation of citizens in public matters and broad social participation.Trust and cooperation as well as communication skills are also included in the components of this culture. In the conditions of social changes related to postmodernism, mainly such as: the appreciation of diversity, the growing importance of the media, the increase in the role of consumption, problems with identity, there is a need to redefine civic culture and its constitutive elements. This has significant implications for contemporary civic education.
Jolanta Izabela Wiśniewska, Educational activity of seniors as a predictor of successful ageing, Interdisciplinary Contexts of Special Pedagogy, No. 22, Poznań 2018. Pp. 27–45. Adam Mickiewicz University Press. ISSN 2300-391X. DOI: https://doi.org/10.14746/ikps.2018.22.03 The article presents a paradigmatic change taking place in the theoretical approach to adult education. Against this background and in the context of contemporary conditions, the author points to the importance of learning from everyday experience and the role of educational activity in this process. The discussed issues were focused on the elderly.
A characteristic feature of post-modernity is the atomization of society while at the same time far-reaching globalization processes takes place. In this context, one of the most important human rights is the need to define and protect its identity. The atomization of society is a consequence of the break-up of the family as well as traditional social structures such as the state, religious communities and trade unions. This phenomenon is accompanied by frequent changes of location. The concept of small homelands disappears. Globalization provides a person with a range of technical and electronic instruments that on the one hand make life easier and on the other hand pose a threat to people. Social media facilitate communication, but at the same time increase the threat to the protection privacy and sensitive data. The subject of the study will be the assessment of the legal framework for the protection of human identity against atomization and globalization processes in the European Union and the presentation of possible new solutions in this field.

It is also an example of the establishment and evolution of the Poznań research school in culture, comparative and general paedagogy. They indicate a clear union between the conditions of socioculturaland education studies in light of the assumptions of post-modernism and critical paedagogy and the richness of sources by this author, connecting Polish paedagogical thought with the world discourse on socialisation and broadly understood education.
The situation of the elderly and ill in the contemporary postmodern society constitutes a serious challenge for contemporary societies as well as for pastoral work of the Church. Reflections of Pope Francis describing the fate of the elderly and ill in the contemporary reality are to be found in the above article. The issue has been discussed in the following subsections: “Competences of the postmodern society towards the elderly and ill” (chapter I); “The significance of the Christian community for the life of the elderly and ill” (chapter II); “The objectives of the pastoral conversation” (chapter III).

Dynamic changes which have been happening to the senior citizens’ environment in Poland make the post-modern – (neo)liberal model clash with the traditional one and even undermines it. The article mainly considers the individual experiencing a post-modern living, having problems with reading current ideology and defending “non-modern” values. It is significant to notice that (neo)liberalism makes the individual responsible for their personal development as much as it has never made before and thus the importance of the life-long education. The aim of the publication is the attempt to point out the chosen social transformations in post-modern world and their influence on discovering new/old educational spaces as well as the presentation of their significance for vertical education. The content also refers to the forms of leisure activities, indicating their new opportunities, which emerge for the fast growing population of senior citizens.

In this article, the author attempts to identify the difficulties that young adults encounter in constructing their own lives. The article presents the results of pilot studies with twelve people aged 22 to 34. Thanks to the dialogue method and critical analysis of the content of Internet forums and social networks, the author introduces the difficulties encountered by young adults and symbolically opens the world of problems experienced by them. Young adults indicate great difficulties in building a long lasting relationships with other people. In addition, these difficulties result from developing a professional career. On the base of young people’s statements, the author also identified difficulties related to the implementation of daily duties imposed by reality and difficulties in pursuit of exclusivity forced by post-modernity. According to the author, the answer to the experienced problems in creating one’s own life may be a consulting offer- a new life design counselling paradigm proposed by Mark Savickas.
The question about man – his origin, nature, vocation and future – is one of the most urgent questions of the presence, in terms of outlook. Christianity recalls that separation of anthropology from theology inevitably results in an ideology that paradoxically deifies and degrades man, at the same time questioning the fundamental values which protect him. The ethical chaos of post-modernity, being the result of moving away from God, has its particularly dramatic consequences visible in the area of human sexuality and family life. In these spheres, undermining the truth of the Creation of man, and refusing the dependence of Creation on God, lead to family destruction and directly harms human life. Finally, by recalling the fate of the evangelical Prodigal Son, J. Ratzinger/Benedict XVI proves everything that seems to be a deserved vastness of freedom for human pride may only lead – in sinful usurpation – to the extreme debasement of man.

The afterthought on education is the consideration of the world of culture – the world of values. European culture is based on Aristotle`s thought. This is his metaphysics. The change of this paradigm occurs at the treshold of Modernity (N. Machiavelli) and it is followed by the thought of the Descartes; cogito. Here, the starting point is I, an individual, who undertakes the economic activity (Th. Hobbes, J. Locke). In the post-time the world of an individual undergoes the act of disintegration (contingency; R. Rorty) which can be associated with the state of “reassurance” (M. Gauchet). Today, there is no clarity as to what „education” really is.
The presence of a religion teacher at school becomes a chance to evangelise both students and teachers. They all come from different backgrounds and have varying experience of God. The article A Religion Teacher in a School Environment in the Face of a Demonology Issue is an attempt to show a religion teacher’s tasks which he can undertake during religious instruction lessons and during informal contacts with other teachers. These tasks are not focused only on spreading the Gospel. But also on making young people aware of spiritual threats connected with wearing satanist symbols and promoting satanism, organizing Halloween, propagating magic. The article proves that the school curriculum for catechism does not underline the threats sufficiently. It contains suggestions of improving the content of the subject in this aspect and also of fuller use of the priest teacher’s presence at school.

Pier Paolo Pasolini’s work has always attracted controversy and divided the audience into die-hard supporters and those who categorically rejected his works. Lipowicz attempts to analyse and interpret Pasolini’s last film Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom (Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma /1975/) from the philosophical and sociological point of view. He argues that Salò is an inconvenient and therefore proscribed masterpiece of cinema, and that it shows the transition of the Western culture from modernity to post-modernity in a critical and pessimistic manner. From the contemporary perspective this film is an important reminder that we should not forget that under the guise of social diversity, we, supposedly free citizens, are forced to live in and participate in consumer culture, which not only imposes on us its ideas, norms, values and customs, but also interferes with even the most intimate areas of our lives.
Na koniec omawia inne obszary zastosowania „polonistyki performatywnej”, m.in. dynamikę przestrzeni społecznej, życie literackie w dobie Internetu, nurt art and science.

The review refers to Marek Pieniążek’s book „Polonistyka performatywna. O humanistycznych technologiach wytwarzania światów” (“Performative Polish Studies. On Humanistic Technologies of Creating Worlds”, 2018). The reviewer focuses his attention on the title term of performativity and its applicability in the contexts of various problems within the humanities, including Polish Studies didactics. Then, he goes on to investigate the advantages and shortcomings of “performative education,” which he sets against “textocentrism” understood in structuralist spirit, and also reflects on the possibilities of employing Pieniążek’s conception into teaching practice. Ultimately, he discusses other fields of applicability of “performative Polish Studies,” e.g., into social space dynamics, literary life in the age of the Internet, the trend art and science.
Background – Nowadays the family, in the era of postmodernism and in the world of VUCA, undergoes various transformations that concern both its structure, functioning, the performance of family roles, and family ties. The family functioning with a person with a disability is also subject to these transformations, both when the disability concerns the child and the parent. Aims – The aim of the article was to show the changes that are taking place in a family with a person with disabilities, as well as to discuss the problems occurring in it and the possibilities of support in overcoming them. Methodology – The article is a review, focusing on an analysis of the issue based on the literature. Results – The article is devoted to selected transformations in a family with a disabled person. The problems of the functioning of a family in which a child with a disability is raised or in which the disability directly affects the parents themselves are presented. The problems and difficulties faced by these families as they try to cope with the most current challenges of the present day are discussed. Moreover, the issue of the complex determinants of family functioning in the face of disability is discussed, especially in the context of changing social attitudes towards disability. Conclusions – The transformations in a family with a person with a disability are taking place against the background of societal-wide changes. They are complex and diverse and involve many different areas. A family experiencing an accumulation of problems requires specific support, which should be redefined and, above all, rationalised.

Tło – Współczesna rodzina, w dobie postmodernizmu i w świecie VUCA, podlega różnorodnym przemianom, które dotyczą zarówno jej struktury, funkcjonowania, pełnienia ról rodzinnych, więzi rodzinnych.
Based on an analysis of selected definitions of the terms used for society and culture, the author creates the sociological theoretical framework for the article. In conjunction with the characterized phenomenon of digital transformation, extensive and far-reaching conclusions are formulated on the impact of new technology for postmodernity. In relation to the scientific achievements of Buber and Tischner, the author deeply analyzes the assumptions of philosophy of dialogue. This allows the observation of a wide dimension in the relationship between the relational nature of social relations, the condition of the individual, the durability of the systems humans create, the technocratic direction of civilizational development and the consumerist attitude to reality in contemporary society of the 21st century. The author describes technological worship and presents the negative consequences of digital transformation processes. On the example of the service sector, the transition is presented as symbolic culture based on the relations and dialogue with technical and functional culture. The research method used in the article is a review of the scientific literature. In the study, the author set the goal of determining the impact of digital transformation on humans in the context of the definition of culture and society. As a result of the research, the author states that technological insight (i.e. looking at technology as a way of resolving all contemporary problems) has the danger of successively weakening man, and could lead to a deepening of social inequalities. The author also emphasizes the need to deepen research on the consequences of the digital transformation on society and culture and to develop models that can reduce the negative consequences of the change process.

W oparciu o dorobek naukowy m.in. M. Bubera i J. Tischnera autor wnikliwie zajmuje się założeniami filozofii dialogu i dostrzega szeroki wymiar zależności pomiędzy relacyjnym charakterem stosunków społecznych, kondycją jednostki i trwałością kreowanych przez nią systemów a technokratycznym kierunkiem rozwoju cywilizacyjnego i konsumpcjonistycznym nastawieniem do rzeczywistości we współczesnym społeczeństwie XXI wieku. Autor opisuje technologiczne uwielbienie i przedstawia negatywne konsekwencje procesów transformacji cyfrowej.
Stąd postulat szczególnej ochrony i obrony tych wartości.

The aim of the article is to present the meaning of axiological and moral education in the process of building social order in the so-called post-modern era. The need to maintain social order and moral culture is an essential condition of social life, since it is intrinsically encoded into a human being’s nature. The disconcerting tendencies to undermine the foundations of this order, which appear as axiological and moral weakening, prompt its protection, through teaching values which build this order and ensure its stability, predictability and continuity. These values include: religion, taboos, dialogue, community, collective memories. Therefore, if we wish to live in a truly human world, we need to defend and protect these values in particular.
To signum temporis ponowoczesności i ważne zagadnienie współczesnego dyskursu humanistycznego.

The development of digital civilization has become unstoppable. It is the signum temporis of post-modernity and an important issue in contemporary humanistic discourse. The main thesis of the article is the view that the word (logos)—foundation and material in traditional humanities will succumb to the pressure of the image and will keep its original meaning only in niches or enclaves. This is not a status quo which can be implemented in thinking—either scientific or colloquial— inspired by axiology and anthropology of Christian origin. An organic Christian cannot accept the primacy of the image and number (digit) over the word due to the sacred status of the word. The word expresses the existence of God, it is the beginning of His work and Himself. In Catholic, Protestant or Orthodox theologies one may find many arguments against specific “deification” of technology stimulating the development of the so called digital humanity. Certain representatives of personalistic philosophy, based on the Christian concept of man-person present a similarly skeptical attitude. From the humanistic perspective, the post-modern permission for the dependence of man on technological creations should be regarded as a mistake.
Having been distorted since modern times, the notions of truth and freedom have been radically juxtaposed in post-modern worldviews, consequently resulting in the loss of key values: the truth is questioned, while freedom is determined and limited by worldly purposes. J. Ratzinger (Pope Benedict XVI) shows that the terms are de facto, theologically important (Theological Hermeneutics); i.e., they can be fully and properly understood from the heart of Christian faith God is the right guarantor of the truth (involving the existence of the objective and judicious reality) and the Embodiment of God’s Son, Logos, is the ultimate argument for its attainability and cognizability. When Jesus said: “I am the truth” (John 14 : 6) He convinced that the truth is universal and belongs to God. Thereby, it remains universally binding; it is the appropriate basis of ethos. The truth constitutes the key to interpreting reality and is a superior (independent) criterion for its arrangement (also in the social and political sense). Thus, the task of Christianity and theology is to restore the proper, Christological understanding of truth and freedom for the world, as well as their inseparable, redemptive relationship: “the truth will set you free” (John 8 : 32).
PL
