Artykuł ma charakter poznawczo-syntetyzujący, którego ideą jest wskazanie na sytuację przedsiębiorstw sektora MŚP wysokich technologii w Polsce w odniesieniu do takich przedsiębiorstw w wybranych krajach UE.

The publication entitled The advancement of technology in SMEs sector in Poland presents an outline of the problem concerning potential and technological competitiveness of the organization. Also a juxtaposition of statistical data concerning the Polish SME sector enterprises and some chosen EU countries has been made. This juxtaposition refers mainly to their technological modernity level. The cognitive aim of the article is to point to the situation of technologically advanced SME in Poland comparing them to the enterprises of the same sector operating in some chosen countries in the European Union.

The technological entrepreneurship is a multi-layered notion, including various aspects of functioning of enterprises. Amongst determinants of the technological entrepreneurship, peculiarly a technological potential, often incorrectly identified with technological portfolios, will matter greatly. The technological entrepreneurship is a necessary condition of the market success, particularly in case of small and medium enterprises for which acquiring the technology is a condition of surviving and the development.

Przedsiębiorczość technologiczna jest pojęciem wielowątkowym, obejmującym różne aspekty funkcjonowania przedsiębiorstw. Wśród determinant przedsiębiorczości technologicznej, szczególnie istotną rolę odgrywa potencjał technologiczny, nieraz błędnie utożsamiany jedynie z jego portfelem technologicznym. Zdaniem autora, przedsiębiorczość technologiczna jest warunkiem koniecznym sukcesu rynkowego, szczególnie w przypadku małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw, dla których pozyskiwanie technologii jest warunkiem przetrwania i rozwoju.
