The paper reviews two biographies devoted to the late priest and poet Jan Twardowski, who died in 2006. The authors of both books adopt different strategies: they use biographical sources in different way and vary in the construction of fate of their protagonist. Grzebałkowska concentrates on reporting activities, attempting to discover the answer to the question of human fate. Smaszcza is interested in the priest-poet and thus draws the clear shape of the fate of the reverend and artist, avoiding sensitive and controversial issues.

Artykuł traktuje o dwóch biografiach poświęconych zmarłemu w 2006 roku poecie księdzu Janowi Twardowskiemu. W obu książkach autorzy przyjmują inną strategię: inaczej wykorzystują materiał biograficzny i odmiennie konstruują los swego bohatera. Grzebałkowska skupia się na czynnościach reporterskich, próbując wyjaśnić zagadkę losu drugiego człowieka. Smaszcza interesuje kapłan-poeta, kreśli zatem klarowny kształt losu duchownego i twórcy zarazem, unikając spraw drażliwych i kontrowersyjnych.
