The paper discusses the subject of the strategy implementation and the operational risk that accompanies this stage of the strategic management process. The studies confirmed the existence of a relationship between the effectiveness of the strategy implementation and the operational risk aspects (including internal processes, systems, people and the environment). This indicates the role of risk aspects when implementing development concepts. Therefore it seems necessary to take these elements into account in the course of the strategic management process in order to achieve a greater effectiveness of the implementation work..

Artykuł opisuje tematykę wdrażania strategii oraz ryzyka operacyjnego, które towarzyszy temu etapowi procedury zarządzania strategicznego. Przeprowadzone badania potwierdzają istnienie zależności pomiędzy skutecznością implementacji strategii a aspektami ryzyka operacyjnego na które składają się procesy wewnętrzne, systemy, ludzie oraz otoczenie. Wskazuje to tym samym na rolę jaką odgrywa opisywany aspekt ryzyka w realizacji wyznaczonych koncepcji rozwojowych. Niezbędne wydaje się zatem uwzględnianie tych elementów w przebiegu procesu zarządzania strategicznego w celu osiągnięcia większej skuteczności prowadzonych prac implementacyjnych

Podstawowym celem opracowania jest ocena możliwości wykorzystania wybranej metody z zakresu zarządzania strategicznego dla budowania strategii instytutów badawczych. Jako dodatkowy cel opracowania przyjęto próbę zastosowania wybranej metody w instytucie badawczym na przykładzie Instytutu Technologii Materiałów Elektronicznych (ITME) w Warszawie. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych w artykule rozważań stwierdzono, iż proces zarządzania strategicznego może wspomagać formułowanie strategii w instytutach badawczych, przy czym z uwagi na specyfikę tych jednostek poszczególne metody należy poddawać modyfikacjom. Przykładem takiej modyfikacji było przeprowadzenie analizy z wykorzystaniem macierzy BCG na przykładzie ITME, gdzie dokonano modyfikacji zmiennych w macierzy z relatywnego udziału w rynku i relatywnego wzrostu rynku na potencjał rynkowy technologii i szybkość wdrożenia technologii, co pozwoliło na prezentację wyników macierzy z uwzględnieniem specyfiki analizowanej organizacji.

The main aim of the article is to assess the potential of using a selected method of strategic management for building strategies of research institute. An additional objective of the study was an attempt to apply the selected method for a research institute on the example of the Institute of Electronic Materials Technology (ITME) in Warsaw. Based on the considerations conducted in the article, it was found that the strategic management process may support the processes of strategies formulation in research institutes, however, due to the specificity of these units, individual methods should be modified. An example of such a modification was the analysis using the BCG matrix on the example of ITME, where variables in the matrix were modified from relative market share and relative market growth to market potential of technology and speed of technology implementation, which allowed the presentation of matrix results taking into account the specificity of the analysed organization.
