The aim of the article is to describe and analyse the results of comparative research on visual impairment pedagogy graduates educated in the system of 5-year uniform master’s studies and 3-year bachelor’s studies, concerning the course of their educational and professional paths.

The hierarchy in disposable groups, due to the specific nature thereof, is of significant importance for their proper functioning. Such a fixed sequence and order in this environment is essential as according to it someone performs managerial (command) functions, support ones or those positioned lower in terms of importance. Individuals holding certain positions must have relevant competences, skills and knowledge. Professional roles performed in disposable systems differ substantially from those played in a civilian environment. The differences result from the specificity of the tasks executed, responsibility for the specialised equipment and often for the lives of people.

Several research projects in the last decade have been devoted to studying professional role perception among Polish journalists. Still less is known about how different ideals of professional roles affect journalistic role performance. This paper aims to present the findings of the content analysis of 1,130 news stories published in four Polish newspapers in 2012 and 2013. The study was a part of the international research project: Journalistic Role Performance Around the Globe (led by Prof. Claudia Mellado from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, in Chile and Lea Hellmueller, from Texas States University, www.journalisticperformance.org). The results indicate that the watchdog model is most commonly used in the Polish press, followed by the infotainment and civic models. However, the findings of the content analysis primarily support the general observation on the political orientations of the Polish newspapers and political parallelism of the Polish media system.

The article presents the specificity of women’s professional careers and their situation and social roles in the context of dynamic changes in the labor market: evident intellectualization and digitization ofworking environments, significantly changing career concepts as well as ways to achieve it. This is particularly important in relation to the career paths of women, mainly due to the need to reconcil work with family responsibilities. Therefore, it becomes important to highlight practical solutions for organizations that aim to create programs to support women in their aspirations and career ambitions, to make work time more flexible and to promote gender diversity in the field of organizational culture.

This study looks into the culture of nursing professionals in the present-day Czech health-care system at a time of personal, generational, and educational transitions (reforms), which have driven a change of organisational-cultural means in the relationship between two key professions: doctors and nurses. The article presents the results of a biographical study of nurses, paying detailed attention to their emotional labour in cooperation with doctors in accident and emergency ward settings. The study draws on the concept of organisational culture in practice/action, on a Goffmanian and Garfinkelian ethnomethodology of scripts of interaction (rules, norms) in order to reconstruct the feeling rules that govern a nurse’s emotional display and her role in cooperating with doctors. The article stresses the importance of emotion management as a substantial part of the gendered professional identities of health-care workers and discusses the situations when nurses’ subordinate status requires a kind of stressful emotion management to keep the doctor-nurse professional relationship intact, which is not required from doctors. The study also presents a variety of coping strategies or practices normalising these morally questionable feeling rules and norms, which guide action as an integral part of the ordinary practices of the social organisation of the nurse’s occupation in hospital settings.

The article is an attempt to define the social roles of women presented in Viva! in the years 1997‒2001. The opening of the magazine Viva! in 1997 initiated the Polish people-type press segment, which is an intermediate form between the entertainment and gossip press and true story magazines. By presenting news about people recognizable through press profiles and interviews, Viva! combines aspects of public and private lives of woman characters. This is reflected in the social roles presented by the magazine. The quantitative analysis, preceded by theoretical considerations, was performed on 763 profiles of women on the passive plane (the characters of media coverages). The content analysis allowed the author to identify the social roles of women of the media coverage. The study revealed that women featured in the magazine Viva! actively participate in public and private spaces, playing a variety of roles, including those that are classically identified with both spheres: professional and family, as well as those non-standard, related to the specificity of the magazine – the roles of relatives and affinities of famous people.

łączy aspekty życia publicznego i prywatnego bohaterów.
