Celem artykułu jest ukazanie jednego z przejawów funkcjonowania tzw. opiekuńczej wspólnoty (community care), czyli motywowanej religijnie działalności prospołecznej na rzecz chorych. W części pierwszej prezentowane są wyniki badań na temat prospołecznej aktywności parafii w Polsce. W części drugiej metodami statystycznymi zostają poddane analizie konteksty funkcjonowania opiekuńczej wspólnoty: rodzaj i wielkość społeczności lokalnej, wiek, poziom feminizacji, religijność oraz liczebność organizacji. Dla celów analitycznych, ze względu na dostępność danych oraz poziom obserwacji, wspólnota rozumiana jako społeczność lokalna ograniczona jest do zakresu parafii. Tekst wpisuje się w szerszą debatę na temat zależności sektorowych, funkcjonowania społeczeństwa obywatelskiego, w szczególności, w powiązaniu ze społeczną działalnością Kościoła w ramach parafii, oraz zasady pomocniczości.

This article presents one of the manifestation of the community care which is the faith-based pro-social activity for sick people. The first section presents the results of the research on pro-social activities of the parish in Poland. The second part is the statistical analysis of community care contexts such as: type and size of community, age, level of feminisation, and the number of religious organizations. For analytical purposes and data availability, the local community is limited to the scope of the parish. The text takes part in a wider debate on the relationship between social sectors, the functioning of civil society and the principle of subsidiarity.
