Love after the “Twilight of the Paradigm” – a Few Words about Affection and Romance in Hanemann by Stefan Chwin

The aim of the article is to show the relevance between the affection theory and romanticism emotion in Stefan Chwin’s Hanemann. The author of the article interprets the novel with the romanticism theory – romantic love, melancholy, Kierkegaard Repetition and through new affection theory. Chwin’s Hanemann is the example of novel which shows us a turn to emotion, especially emotion derived from romantics.

Celem artykułu jest ukazanie związków między teorią afektu a romantycznymi koncepcjami uczuciowości na przykładzie Hanemanna S. Chwina. Autorka opracowania analizuje powieść zarówno za pomocą teorii zaczerpniętych z epoki romantyzmu (kategoria miłości romantycznej, melancholii, Kierkegaardowskiego powtórzenia), jak i nowych teorii (zwrotu afektywnego). Hanemann jest przykładem powieści, która pozwala dostrzec aktualność tradycji romantycznej we współczesnej prozie.

The article is an attempt to analyze the motif of trauma and exclusion in Krótka wymiana ognia by Zyta Rudzka. The writer used poetics based primarily on fragmentarily, understatements and diversely language stylization showed the difficulty of constructing stories problematizing the scandal of old age, the problem of exclusion and “heredity” of (post)holocaust experiences. The author of Pałac Cezarów proves the trauma, on the one hand, is written in the (ageing) human body, and the other hand, old age (as a process) may turn out to be a traumatic experience. In addition, trauma can be a consequence of social stigmatization, but as well as the result of life decisions made.

Artykuł jest próbą analizy funkcjonowania traumy i wykluczenia w prozie Krótka wymiana ognia Zyty Rudzkiej. Pisarka zastosowała poetykę opartą przede wszystkim na fragmentarycznych, niedopowiedzeniach i zróżnicowanej stylizacji językowej, ukazując trudność konstruowania opowieści problematyzujących kwestie starości, problem wykluczenia i „dziedziczenia” doświadczeń (po) holokaustowych. Autor Pałacu Cezarów udowadnia, że trauma z jednej strony zapisana jest w (starzejącym się) ciele człowieka, z drugiej starość (jako proces) może okazać się traumatycznym przeżyciem. Ponadto trauma może być konsekwencją stygmatyzacji społecznej, ale także wynikiem podjętych decyzji życiowych.
