The text discusses the functioning of masculinity models in modern western culture. There were also presented research findings related to the two issues: (1) What image of a boy and a man do the selected sexuality education textbooks present? What and how is said about a boy/man in selected sexuality education textbooks? (2) What model of masculinity is presented in selected sexuality education textbooks? There were used qualitative content analysis strategies in the analysis of existing data. The analysis of information transfer related to the masculinity referred to the concept of socialisation models (traditional, mixed, egalitarian). The language analysis was focused on the symbolic assigning to the gender relevant attributes and permanent, unchangeable predispositions. The research was designed in the gender perspective and the gender category was the primary analysis criterion. There were analysed seven textbooks and exercise books for the subject "Education for family life" for primary and secondary school levels. The research implementation and analysis of research material took place in the period from October 2013 to October 2014. The books analysed here present a model of masculinity close to the traditional pattern in which men and women have clearly defined biological predisposition. From the gender perspective there are underrepresented alternatives to the family life traditionally perceived in our culture and the presence of sexual minorities in the social sphere.
