Historia psychologii pastoralnej, od jej powstania na gruncie dziewiętnastowiecznego protestantyzmu, aż do czasów współczesnych, uwidacznia pewien problem z umiejscowieniem jej pośród dyscyplin naukowych. Przyczyn tej rozmytej tożsamości upatruje się w ciągłej nieumiejętności pogodzenia relacji psychologii i religii, przechodzącej od etapów jawnej wrogości (freudyzm, marksizm), poprzez redukcjonizm z prostym utożsamianiem zjawisk psychicznych i duchowych czy wzajemną obojętność, po otwartość i wzajemne korzystanie ze swych osiągnięć. Artykuł ukazuje aktualnie uprawianą psychologię pastoralną jako swoisty obszar „wpomiędzy” psychologią (religii) a teologią pastoralną. Uwzględniając historię tej młodej dyscypliny, autorzy zarysowują związek psychologii pastoralnej z innymi dziedzinami wiedzy, wskazując, że niejasna tożsamość na styku teologii i psychologii może stanowić w swej istocie jej wielki zasób budowany na zdolności interdyscyplinarnego dialogu oraz elastycznym wpisywaniu się w potrzeby współczesnego człowieka z jego polifoniczną naturą.

History of pastoral psychology, since its inception on the basis of nineteenth-century Protestantism, up to the present, reveals a problem with the placement among disciplines. The reasons for the fuzzy identity is seen in the ongoing inability to reconcile the relationship of psychology and religion, passing from overt hostility stages (Freudianism, Marxism), by equating reductionism with a simple psychic phenomena and spiritual, or mutual indifference, the openness and sharing of their achievements. The article presents the current pastoral psychology as a specific area “in-between” psychology (of religion) and pastoral theology. Given the history of this young discipline, outlines the relationship of pastoral psychology and other disciplines, indicating that the unclear identity “at the crossroads” of theology and psychology, may constitute in essence its a great resource built on the ability of interdisciplinary dialogue and writing flexible to the needs of modern man with his polyphonic nature.

Artykuł przedstawia analizę wyzwań związanych z tożsamością pielgrzyma chrześcijańskiego w obliczu dynamicznego rozwoju turystyki religijnej. Inflacja semantyczna określająca mianem pielgrzyma każdego wędrowca oznacza nową konfigurację działań duszpasterskich, zwłaszcza sposoby radzenia sobie z konsumpcjonizmem sacrum, jaki wiele osób dostrzega. W kontekście obserwacji Zygmunta Baumana o przekształceniu pielgrzyma w turystę, artykuł proponuje refleksję odwrotną: W jaki sposób turysta staje się pielgrzymem w realiach współczesnych szlaków pielgrzymkowych? Za punkt odniesienia wybrano Camino de Santiago i przeanalizowano aktualnie prowadzone działania duszpasterskie, zarówno w wymiarze instytucjonalnym, jak i indywidualnym.

This article presents an analysis of the current challenges to the identity of the Christian pilgrim in the face of the dynamic growth of religious tourism. The semantic inflation that results in every wanderer being described as a pilgrim implies a new configuration of pastoral care, especially in terms of responding to the perceived “consumerism of the sacred.” In the context of Z. Bauman’s observations concerning the transformation of the pilgrim into the tourist, the article proposes a reverse type of reflection, that is, how the tourist can become a pilgrim in the reality of modern-day pilgrimage routes. The Camino de Santiago was chosen as the point of reference, and current pastoral activities – both institutional and individual – were analyzed.

Pastoral Psychology is a discipline which aids Pastoral Theology with understanding the mechanisms that influence contemporary man’s actions and life choices. The interdisciplinary approach can bear especially good fruits in the field of individual pastoral ministry as well as in leading small communities. One requirement of such an integrated collaboration of both theological disciplines is the methodological correctness. In such a way we can avoid the danger of confusing the pastoral work with a kind of psychological therapy.

Psychologia pastoralna jest dziedziną wiedzy, która wspomaga teologię pastoralną w opisie uwarunkowań w jakich żyje współczesny człowiek oraz mechanizmów jakie mogą determinować jego działania i podejmowane życiowe wybory. Szczególnie ważne we współpracy tych dwóch dyscyplin są wnioski dla realizacji duszpasterstwa indywidualnego, kierownictwa duchowego oraz prowadzenia małych grup religijnych. Aby opisana współpraca mogła przynosić wymierne owoce potrzeba metodologicznej poprawności w uprawianiu obu dyscyplin oraz realizowania takiego duszpasterstwa, które nie będzie sobie rościło praw do prowadzenia jakiejkolwiek terapii.

The debates related to the understanding of pastoral theology are being held continuously. The Second Vatican Council has exceptionally contributed to this development, since its pastoral character led to offering prospects for setting new goals and for designing new style and methods of research. Therefore it is worth triggering off a reflection on the method of applying pastoral theology. It is of specific character, since it draws from two sources – both theological and non-theological. The authors of this article have been inspired by the document issued by the International Theological Commission Theology today: Perspectives, Principles and Criteria (2012), which emphasizes the fact that the practical theology has greatly profited from being combined with sociology, psychology and pedagogy (No. 81). Therefore, they decided to attempt to specify the relationship between pastoral theology and these sciences. They ask whether pastoral psychology, pedagogy and sociology are sub-disciplines of pastoral theology, sub-fields of non-theological sciences or whether they are interdisciplinary sciences of theoretical and practical character, whose achievements are exploited in the process of creating theological models of the pastoral activity, comprising also the paths for it. Carrying out such considerations, the authors remind the essence and goals of pastoral theology, they stress its nature, which is both prescriptive and practical, presenting at the same time its methods. Furthermore, they discuss the specifics of practicing interdisciplinary pastoral theology, concentrating on the non-theological fields. Finally, they propose some theological suggestions, stipulating explicitly that they are not of the conclusive character and they are just supposed to initiate a substantive discussion aiming at formulating new solutions.

Dyskusja nad rozumieniem teologii pastoralnej oraz jej statusem metodologicznym trwa już od wielu lat. Do jej rozwoju przyczynił się także II Sobór Watykański, który zaoferował nowe perspektywy jej rozwoju, nakreślił odnowione cele i sugerował odmienny styl i metody badań. Dlatego zagadnienie statusu metodologicznego teologii pastoralnej jest zagadnieniem aktualnym także dziś. Jego specyfikę wyznacza odwoływanie się w badaniach pastoralnych zarówno do źródeł teologicznych jak i pozateologicznych. Autorzy artykułu podejmują próbę określenia relacji teologii pastoralnej do jej nauk pomocniczych, próbując zarazem ukazać istotę psychologii pastoralnej, pedagogiki pastoralnej i socjologii pastoralnej. Opisują specyfikę interdyscyplinarnego uprawiania teologii pastoralnej, koncentrując się dziedzinach pozateologicznych. Proponują także pewne sugestie metodologiczne, które mają być punktem wyjścia do merytorycznej dyskusji i zaproponowania nowych rozwiązań.
