Głównym celem artykułu jest wykazanie znaczenia dla Polski przedsięwzięć Grupy PKP ukierunkowanych na rozwijanie przewozów kolejowych Chiny – Unia Europejska. Omówiono główne kolejowe szlaki towarowe i ich warianty zastępcze. Podkreślono znaczenie chińskich subsydiów dla funkcjonowania kolejowych połączeń towarowych Chiny – EU. Przedstawiono usługi logistyczne przewoźników kolejowych PKP i firm przeładunkowych oraz zaangażowanie podmiotów PKP we wpływowe inicjatywy zajmujące się organizowaniem lub promowaniem kolejowych przewozów Azja – Europa. Omówiono wpływ dużych przedsięwzięć infrastrukturalnych i handlowych spółek PKP na korzyści generowane przez fracht na kolejowym jedwabnym szlaku dla polskiej gospodarki. Przedyskutowano uwarunkowania rozwojowe tranzytowych kolejowych przewozów kontenerów z/do Chin przez Polskę. Poruszono także kwestię atrakcyjności Polski dla inwestycji w centra logistyczne bądź terminale przeładunkowe z dostępem kolejowym, których przedmiotem działalności miałaby być dystrybucja lub konsolidacja produktów z/do Chin. Przedstawiono opinie autorów wsparte danymi zaczerpniętymi z literatury branżowej i materiałów spółek Grupy PKP.

The main aim of the article is to prove the significance of efforts of PKP for value added generation in Poland associated to rail freight between China and the EU. The main rail freight routes and their viable alternatives were characterised. The importance of Chinese subsidies for rail freight connections with European location was highlighted. Logistical services provided by the PKP railway carriers and reloading firms were described. The engagement of PKP entities in influential initiatives organising or promoting Asia-Europe rail freight was shown. The impact of major infrastructural undertakings and commercial projects carried out by PKP companies on benefits generated by Silk Road railway carriages for the Polish economy was explained. The conditionings and development constraints for container block trains transit through Poland were discussed. The essay touches also the issue of attractiveness of Poland for investments in logistical hubs with railway access dedicated to distribution/consolidation of products from/to China. The presented opinions were concluded based on authors’ expert knowledge and findings from the review of literature and internal materials of the PKP Group.
