The presented paper displays the issue of reading interests of pre-school children. Reading literature has a considerable importance for children’s development. Not only teachers but also caring parents realize that. Every idea that initiates or reinforces children’s willingness to read seems to be worth implementing as reading culture of the young generation has become increasingly poorer. Children use such inventions as a computer, the Internet, an IPod, an MP3 player, etc., since their early childhood. A book competes with them with increasing difficulty. However, making an effort to popularize reading, without which the life of the majority would become much poorer and deprived of values fostered by literature, is worth doing.

Opracowanie ilustruje zagadnienie czytelniczych zainteresowań wśród dzieci w wieku wczesnoszkolnym. Czytanie literatury ma wielkie znaczenie dla ich rozwoju. Dostrzegają to nie tylko nauczyciele i troskliwi rodzice. Każdy pomysł inicjujący bądź wzmacniający u dzieci chęć czytania wydaje się wart podejmowania, jako że kultura czytelnicza młodego pokolenia staje się wciąż uboższa. Książka z coraz większym trudem konkuruje z komputerem, Internetem, iPodem, odtwarzaczem mp3 itp., z którymi to wynalazkami współczesne dzieci mają kontakt od pierwszych lat swego życia. Warto jednak podejmować trud upowszechniania czytelnictwa, bez którego życie większości stałoby się znacząco uboższe i pozbawione wartości, jakie niesie ze sobą czytanie literatury.
